MWES News- October Edition
Encouraging Excellence in our Panther Cub Community
Greetings from Ms. Colon
Fall is here! It has been an amazing month at Mary Williams. From a fun Health and Wellness Night to meeting all of you during Back to School Night; we started the school year on a good note. Having parents engaged in the work we do is key. Partnering with our parents and community makes our students stronger.
I would like to thank you for all the messages and notes expressing your concerns and support for my family in P.R. It means a lot to know that you are thinking of them as they recover from the devastation of Hurricane Maria.
October is filled with bring many fun activities. We will have the Fire Department visit our Kindergarten students, a PTO meeting with information about our gifted learners, and the most amazing Field Day! Are you ready for what's in store? Contact us if you wish to volunteer.
October 9th will be a Professional Development day for our staff. There will be no school for our panther cubs.
Being part of this learning community is such an amazing experience. Thanks for your support and involvement.

Student illness
To prevent the spread of disease and to protect your student, please keep your student home and/or make an appointment with your health care provider for the following symptoms:
- temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- severe sore throat, headache, or cough
- eyes with inflammation, redness, and watery or purulent drainage
- undiagnosed and/or untreated skin rash
- communicable disease
If a student becomes ill during school, the parent/guardian of the student must be contacted before a student is allowed to leave the building. It is important to provide your student's school with updated contact numbers so parents/guardians may be reached concerning illness, as well as emergencies.
