Davis Richmond E-news
August 19th, 2022
In D303, we value the opportunity to provide a community of care and support to our families, especially those faced with financial hardship.
If your family is currently experiencing a significant financial need, our community partnerships have several supports available for families, including school clothes/shoes, winter coats/accessories, school supplies, toiletries, holiday meals, and/or holiday gifts. If you would like to be considered for any of these supports, please complete the Family Resource Form by August 26, 2022.
Schoology
District 303 is beginning to use Schoology, an integrated learning management system that provides course management, mobile learning, and support for system-wide communication. Full implementation across the district starts this fall with grades 6-12+. District-wide implementation begins in the fall of 2023. However, you will see Schoology being utilized at the elementary level with courses such as Empower, LRC, and possibly by your child’s classroom teacher. Schoology enables our students, parents and teachers to engage with learning materials and their school community from the classroom and beyond. We look forward to using Schoology in our classrooms to enhance connectivity and communication across our district.
You should have received an e-mail with an invitation to Schoology. If you have not, please check your spam folder. If you need further assistance, you can visit the D303 Instructional Tech Support for Families Site or contact your LRC Director: Melissa Bradley at melissa.bradley@d303.org for Davis or Christine Heins at christine.heins@d303.org for Richmond.
Elementary Handbook
Parents can access the electronic version of the Elementary Handbook on the D303 website. Go to the D303 website - Our Schools - Student Handbooks - 2022-2023 - Elementary Handbook and Discipline Procedures Addendum. Please note that you will not be receiving a paper copy this year. It is the responsibility of each family to review both handbooks with their children. Thank you for your support.

News from the Nurse
The Illinois school code requires that all kindergarten students and all transfer students must submit evidence of a physical examination and a complete record of immunizations, as well as a vision exam. In addition, all kindergarten students and 2nd graders must submit evidence of a dental exam for this school year. Please submit these forms to the school nurse if you have not done so already. You may drop them off at the Davis front office (Door #1), or return to school in your child’s backpack (notify the teacher/office to expect them). Thank you for your cooperation!

Student Leadership Opportunities
Did you know that students who participate in clubs and extra curriculum activities in school feel a bigger sense of belonging and connectedness? We currently offer a variety of musical clubs such as orchestra, band and choir. We also currently have precision fitness club twice a week and student council. We have decided to offer more club opportunities for students built into the school day. One time per week on Fridays, students will meet at 7:45 a.m. (or when their bus drops them off) until 8:20 a.m. They will miss their Friday morning meeting and their leadership club will take its place. We will be adding the following clubs: Tiger Tech, Patrol, Fuel Up to Play 60 and Paparazzi Club. If you are interested in your child participating please complete the club application and turn in by September 1st. Details descriptions of clubs and an application can be found HERE. Paper copies were also sent home in your child’s backpack today.
