Liberty Track Team
There are opportunities for sprinters, distance runners, throwers, and jumpers. Participants can expect a full season of action with practice starting the first week of March through the Kentucky State Championship Meet on May 18, with many other meets along the way.
Practices are usually 3-4 days per week, and are held at Liberty Elementary or a local high school track.
Through sponsorship by several local area businesses, we have been able to make this a FREE program for Liberty students, and we hope to continue that again this season.
If interested, please plan to attend our informational team meeting on Thursday, January 10 @ 6:30pm at Grassroots Pharmacy in Hamburg Pavilion. You may also contact Coach Lindsey Roberts at (859) 494-4745 or email.
Bottle Cap Collection!
Bottle cap collection for benches is here! Last year was a huge success! We collected 800 pounds of caps which earned us two 6 foot benches which are now placed in the front of the school. This year our goal is to collect 1,200 pounds to get three more benches. You can send your cleaned plastic caps with your student and they can bring it to the science lab before the bell rings at 7:45 a.m.
Acceptable caps are plastic that have the recycle numbers of 2, 4, or 5. This can include flip tops, sour cream or butter lids, water bottle, and soda lids. To view the acceptable caps list visit www.greentreeplastics.com/abc-program/.
**Update from Mr. Peterson:**
I've had a lot of questions about how long we are accepting bottle caps. Our original goal was 1,200 pounds. Students have been working diligently to sort and weigh the caps. As of right now we have 500 pounds. We are going to keep collecting until we get closer to our goal. Keep collecting and thanks so much for your hard work.
