Frankfort High School 4 Star Distinguished School
A note from Interim Principal Tyler Reed
I am beyond excited to be serving as Interim Principal of Frankfort High School. In the past four years Frankfort High has made tremendous strides that I am honored to have been a part of. In this time I have developed a passion for all the things that make FHS great: positive school culture, access to opportunities, and personalized learning. I’m excited to continue the tradition of excellence, as we continue to RISE.
I am returning to Frankfort after serving as Assistant Principal at Paris High School. Prior to my position in Paris I served as the Special Education Teacher at Frankfort High School. During my time in Frankfort I was able to serve on many school and district committees such as Site-Based Decision Making Council, and Profile of a Graduate planning committee. Prior to coming to Frankfort I served as a Special Education Teacher in Jessamine County.
It is an awesome feeling to return to a place that feels like home, work with the best in education, and serve the greatest students out there. Please do not hesitate to reach out and as always we welcome all to come experience exactly what makes Frankfort High so special!

Senior Internship Spotlight - Bridges Hardin
My name is Bridges Hardin and I am a senior at Frankfort High School. I am interning with Robin Antenucci and Frankfort Tourism for the spring semester. My previous internship was with Jasmine Iniguez and David Fox at the KSU Aquaculture Research Center.
These placement locations may sound like polar opposites but choosing two very different placements has helped me to better understand what I might want to do in the future. During my internship with KSU, I was a fish feeder, fish tank cleaner, and a helping hand with whatever else they needed me to do. Some of my duties were moving fish from pond to pond or tank to tank, and transferring and measuring tilapia DNA. Now I work in a beautiful high ceilinged office on St. Clair where I do all kinds of office related tasks such as : I envelope and mail brochures describing all of Frankfort’s attractions to people from all over the world, I help collect and count data from Frankfort Tourism’s website, as well as many other things. The women at Frankfort Tourism are very kind and understanding. I am only in my first month with Robin and I can already tell that she has helped me improve my real world/job skills.
I am a huge fisherman and outdoorsman, so I kept this in mind when choosing an internship at the beginning of the year. I was very nervous and indecisive about choosing my first ever ¨job¨. I wouldn't have had an internship if it wasn't for Mr. Hecker. He found an internship with KSU that best suited my personal and career interests. I wanted to be a biologist and I am really into fishing; sounds like a perfect match. I really enjoyed my time with KSU and learned alot from the people who work there. They taught me many life skills that I know I will use and I will never forget them as they became my friends over the course of a couple months. The people there really enjoy what they do and how they do it. After interning there for a semester I learned that marine biology and hatchery management aren’t what I want to do for the rest of my life. While I enjoyed my time with KSU, I can't see myself in a career like that internship.I see my current internship as an unpaid job. It’s a legitimate business rather than a school program. I work from 1:00-3:00 everyday and usually stay after to gain experience.
After interning at these two different places, I have come to realize that my career interests have completely flipped. I started the year thinking I wanted to be a biologist and work in a hatchery with fish somewhere but now I plan on becoming a business and marketing major at the University of Louisville. This just shows how much the mentorship program helps us seniors to determine what we are or aren’t interested in. This program has helped me in many ways. It’s helped me clear my head and focus on the more important things in life; like where I want to go to college, what major I want, and even what career I would like to see myself in. Thank you to Shane Hecker (Mentorship Coordinator) and thank you Mark Pressley (RISE Mentor) for helping me focus my mind to the future.

Relevance of School - Habits of Success
In Monday Morning Meeting students heard about the Relevance of School. Encourage your student this week about why they need an education. Some points to emphasize are:
- Believing that school is valuable and the things I learn are interesting
- Know how what I'm doing right now fits into a broader arc of my learning and development
- Make choices to focus my work on things I value or care about
- Increase my own level of motivation by connecting to the value of what I'm doing or advocating for an alternative

Nominate a Teacher Who Made A Difference
Would you like to thank a teacher who made a difference in your life? Here is a wonderful way to provide a recognition that teacher will never forget.
For the 22nd year, the University of Kentucky College of Education is hosting an event for members of the public to honor a teacher, professor, principal or other education professional who has made a difference. The nominated teachers do not have to be graduates of UK or even residents of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
This year’s program will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2020, in the Woodford Reserve Club at Kroger Field. Nominate a teacher by March 15 via our contact form.
There is no specific selection process for the program. The event is to simply recognize educators who made a positive impact on the lives of their students. However, the number of honorees to be recognized is limited, so organizers ask that nominators limit recognition to one educator per year.
Visit the Frequently Asked Questions page for more information about the program.
ACT Test Dates
Also if your student is wanting to take the April 4th ACT, the deadline to sign up for the test is 2/29. Please contact the counselors if you have questions. Mrs. Jessica Harley at jessica.harley@frankfort.kyschools.us or Mrs. Jenny Richardson at jenny.richardson@frankfort.kyschools.us.
