Automobiles Throughout History
Morgann Hayes H4
Dating back into the early 1500's when horse drawn carriages were introduced the ideology behind present day vehicles wasn't something that in most cases would even be comprehendible. Automobiles have grown into something much bigger than the original Model T. These days we have a vast selection of vehicles coming from all over the world. Back then we had a couple factories producing the same type of car.
Horse Drawn Carriages & Wagons
While this is not a automobile it was still a big part of history and provided the same possibilities as vehicles do. A horse-drawn vehicle is a mechanized piece of equipment pulled by a single horse or by a team of 2 of more. They typically had two to four wheels and were used to transport passengers and/or a supplies.
Buggy
Commonly referred to " Horse & Buggy ". The Buggy is an American design dating all the way back to the 1800's.
Conestoga wagon
Conestoga wagons were used originally on the Oregon trail until they were replaced with a lighter, more efficient wagon called the Prairie Schooners.
Stagecoach
A stagecoach is typically a covered wagon used to carry passengers and supplies. It is strongly sprung and generally drawn by four horses. Stagecoaches were widely used before the introduction of railways and vehicles. They were often used for transporting people of higher class and also typically wealthy people.
1807 De Rivaz Engine
The de Rivaz engine was a "pioneering reciprocating engine" designed and developed from 1804 by the Franco-Swiss inventor Issac de Rivaz The engine has a claim to be the world's first internal combustion engine and contained some features of modern engines including spark ignition and the use of hydrogen gas as fuel.
1914 Model T
The Ford Model T is an automobile that was produced by Ford Motor Company in the early 1900's from October 1, 1908, to May 26, 1927. It is generally regarded as the first affordable vehicle. The car had opened travel to the common middle-class Americans. Some of this was because of Ford's efficient fabrication, including assembly line production instead of individual hand crafting.
Present Day Vehicles
" Modern day cars are extremely complicated and high tech with some having the computing power greater than the first space shuttle that carried Neil Armstrong to the Moon! Cars today incorporate the latest in silicon technology and it's the advent of Information Technology which has really given the automobile industry a giant technological leap. " says Anil Tanton. The prices of cars have also skyrocketed since 1914. The cheapest Model T available was around $825 and nowadays in 2016 a average car costs about $22,000.
