The B.Y.E. Buzz
September 12
Week of September 12
Another week down and a week closer to conferences! Students and teachers have begun setting goals for their work for this year. We are excited to be able to share these with families at the end of the month. Please check out new information in our newsletter. We have club and activity opportunities listed below.
Spirit Day
Our first spirit day is Friday! Wear Razorback or red/white in anticipation of another Razorback game this weekend.
Parent Meeting- PTA
The first PTA meeting will be Tuesday, September 13th at 8:00 at the BYE library. Following the PTA meeting we will have the Annual School Report and Volunteer training. All are welcome! Please bring your ID and check-in through the front office. All volunteers will need to attend the training prior to volunteering. If this time does not work for you, let us know and we can arrange an additional time. Check out the PTA Newsletter:)
We LOVE our Yellowjacket Staff!
We like to treat our teachers and support staff and show them the LOVE you have for them. It is fun to have little gifts to share with the teachers throughout the year. If you would like to donate a small teacher door prize, please have your child bring it to the office with a note that says "door prize". This can be anything from a $5 Sonic/7Brew card to a pack of fun pens or a chocolate bar. We will have teacher professional development coming soon and would love some door prizes to hand out. Little things go a long way!
9/11
On Sunday, September 11, Patriot Day gives all of us time to reflect on the devastating terror attacks that took nearly 3,000 lives. We commemorate those that we lost and give thanks to the brave first responders that put their lives on the line.
Student letters and posters of gratitude and remembrance have been placed in our hallways and delivered to local police officers, firefighters, and military personnel around our community.
1st Grade Opportunity- Garden Club
Are you a first grader and want to be part of the garden club? This is a hands on club! You will get dirty, sweaty and have a lot of fun. The club will meet on Wednesdays starting September 21. Students will remain at school and garden club will end at 3:10. Sign-up closes on September 19. We can take up to 20 students on a first come first serve basis. Complete the form here!

What does a School Counselor Do?
This month I have been going into classrooms and explaining what my role is as the School Counselor at Young. I have been introducing students to my virtual classroom and discussing how they can come see me if they need support.
Here’s what I do at Young:
Classroom Lessons- I visit all grades to teach social-emotional skills such as feelings, communication, problem- solving, self esteem, respect, etc.
Small Group Counseling- I facilitate small groups for students who need a little extra support in a certain area.
Individual Counseling- I meet with students short-term to work through problems affecting them at school.
Consultation with Staff/Parents- I am available to talk with teachers and parents to help support students. I also provide resources and education about issues affecting children.
Mrs. Ashley Nelson is our school counselor! You can reach out to her online classroom by clicking the picture OR you can submit a request for your child to see the counselor here.
