What's Happening in the Classroom??
- Engineering is Elementary: Students will be learning about designing model membranes.
- Language Arts -Students will begin a new unit in ELA. In this unit, students will read and compare folktales from around the world to analyze how characters solve problems. Students will be asked to identify and summarize key events.
- Word Study- Students will practice with the irregular plural forms of nouns and will be able to identify long and short oo words.
- Math -In math, we are starting a new unit on Fractions. Students will be able to explain any unit fraction (1/b) as one part of a whole. Students will learn what it means to be a fraction. We will explore fractions using manipulatives.
- Writing - Students will continue to explore the three types of writing: opinion, informational and narrative.
- Vocabulary- Students will be able to use reference materials to build vocabulary. They will show their understanding of the word by using it in a sentence during collaborative conversations and in writing.
- 7 Habits - Habit 2 :Begin with the End in Mind. Can your student sing verses 1 and 2 of All the 7 habits? "Habit 2 Begin With the End in Mind, have a plan that you can see."

VALENTINE'S DAY EXCHANGE
If you would like to participate in our class exchange, attached is the class list of names. If you participate, please make sure to make a Valentine for each student. We will be exchanging on February 14th. This will be an exchange, not a classroom party.
