SAMs and new admin features
SAM webinar recording, fall trainings coming
STARS Account Managers (SAMs) from 20 school districts joined the SD-STARS team on Jan. 14 to explore the new User Administration interface in SD-STARS. They learned how to help users log in to the system and what to do if they get locked out. SAMs also learned how to use the new Admin features to approve, manage, and disable SD-STARS accounts. The SD-STARS team recorded the webinar and provided new resources, which are all available in the Training Center. Scroll down to the STARS Account Manager section.
More detailed SAM trainings will be offered in fall 2021. Registration links and more information will be sent to the SD-STARS listserv and will be available in GoSignMeUp (Search for “stars”). Meanwhile the SD-STARS team will gladly answer any account management questions. Contact STARSHelp@state.sd.us.
New special ed menu, permission
SD-STARS will soon feature a new menu which gives certain users access to customized pages specific to special education district reporting. The Special Ed menu will not be available to all SD-STARS users. Only those who have either the district-level Superintendent permission or a new Special Ed Director permission will be able to access the new menu. SAMs will see the new Special Ed Director permission as they work to update user accounts.
The SD-STARS and special education teams at the department will communicate when the new menu is available. More information will come in future newsletters and webinars, including the SD-STARS webinar on March 23. A registration link and more information are included on the newsletter’s front page.
