Just a Heads Up: Book Swap Scheduled for February!

Save the Date (and BOOKS!) for Bethel Springs’ Book Swap: The BSES Reading Department is teaming up with the HSA to host a book swap at school in February. This is a great opportunity for students to trade in some books that they have already read and pick out some new books that interest them! Be on the lookout for specific information about this swap after the holidays. In the meantime, kindly set aside your children’s gently used books from their favorite authors and/or series so they can swap them out in February for a new favorite read!

Please Make Sure Children Are Dressed For the Weather!

The cold temperatures are here for a while to come! Please make sure that children dress warmly--winter coats, gloves, hats, scarves. When weather permits, we like to make sure that students can get outside for recess. Please know that students who are not dressed for the weather will not be permitted to go outside for recess. A half hour is a long time to be outside in the cold when not warmly dressed! Thank you for your help!

Details for Upcoming Events:

Sweet Frog Fundraiser - Headed to the 4th & 5th Grade Bethel Springs Chorus Concert on Monday, December 17th? Swing by Sweet Frog in Glen Mills (600 Town Centre Drive) after the performance to treat your family to some yummy goodness. A percentage of your purchase will benefit our school! The fundraiser runs all day, so even if you aren’t planning on attending the concert, swing by for a sweet treat for a great cause! Please mention that you are with our group when checking out. Check out the FLYER for additional details.

Reminders about Ongoing Fundraisers: Help support BSES while you shop!

Amazon Smile: While you’re finishing up your holiday shopping, don’t forget that BSES participates in Amazon Smile! Navigate to, and select Bethel Springs Elementary School as your charity of choice. When you shop at Amazon Smile, you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection, and convenient shopping experience as, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to your favorite charitable organization (aka-BSES HSA, right?!). As of October 2018, BSES HSA has received over $200 from Amazon Smile since its registration in the program, and it’s pretty much zero effort for anyone who uses Amazon to shop.

Shoparoo: The heat is on!! Update-2nd Grade has pretty commanding lead with 5th Grade trailing not too far behind, while 4th Grade, 3rd Grade and 1st Grade are all neck and neck. If you are not familiar with the Shoparoo app, families upload photos of receipts from grocery stores, restaurants, and retail stores. Bethel Springs earns points for each receipt uploaded (think Acme, Giant, Wegmans, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Target, Walmart, BJs, Costco, etc), and participants can track who is leading with the most points in the school and in their grade for a friendly competitive bonus. Shoparoo issues annual checks based on the points earned; we are almost to the $50 mark so far with a goal of over $200 for the year. Our school is lucky to be enrolled in Shoparoo as there is currently a waiting list for other schools who want to register, and the effort for parents is fairly minimal since it’s shopping that you would already do. Please visit to download the free app and learn more about this hassle-free fundraiser.

This year our Art and Literature Fling will focus on Greece! Each week in our announcements we will include a fact about this fascinating culture that stretches back thousands of years and has had such incredible influence on the world. PLEASE SHARE THE WEEKLY FACT WITH THE KIDS! In May, around the time of our Art and Literature Fling, there will be an electronic quiz on the weekly facts sent home for families to complete. All families achieving a perfect score will have their names put in a prize basket raffle to be drawn at the conclusion of the Art and Literature Fling on Wednesday, May 28th (you'll have to be present to win)!
