Do you need additional classroom support? Then we have a Teacher Leader for you! Our Teacher Leaders have been selected by the district to be Quality Colleagues. They are experienced teachers who are practicing professionals. They are ready, willing and able to help with instruction, behavior and general classroom management. If you have questions, please feel free to contact one of our very own Teacher Leaders. Conversations are confidential and non-evaluative. They are your friends and colleagues and they are here to support improved teaching and learning at Moore Magnet.
Meet Mrs. Hawk
My name is Jennie Hawk and I have been teaching in WSFCS for 14 years. The first 7 years of my teaching career, I taught students with behavior and emotional disabilities in a self contained K-4 classroom. I then transitioned into the regular education field as a first grade teacher and have been in that position ever since! In addition to being a Teacher Academy Leader for the past 3 years, I served as the districts Teacher of the Year in 2017. Due to my background with behaviors, I have led staff development at the school level on Morning Meeting/Social Circles, Behavior/Classroom Management, and PBIS related professional developments. I have also led staff development at the district level on social emotional learning. As I am finishing up my Masters of Reading degree, I have also conducted PD on Word Study.

Meet Mrs. Jacobo
Growing up here in Winston-Salem, I attended Kimberly Park Magnet School for elementary school, attended Paisley Middle School and graduated from Mount Tabor High School in 2001. I graduated with an Elementary Education license from UNCG in 2005. This is my 15th year teaching and all of them have been at Moore Magnet! I have taught 2nd and 3rd grades here at Moore and the last 14 years have been in 3rd grade. I absolutely LOVE the curriculum of 3rd grade and the age group of the kids! I enjoy watching kids make that big transition from 2nd to 3rd grade and watching them grasp concepts that help them cultivate a love for reading and become lifelong readers and reading to learn new concepts. Reading is integrated into other subject areas to focus on cross-curriculum learning through literature. Moore also focuses on incorporating Howard Gardner's 8 Smarts into our lessons and I am definitely logic/math smart! I love teaching math whole group and math small groups digging deep into 3rd grade standards to reinforce and enrich students. Learning through small, differentiated groups helps students grasp concepts that were missed during whole group learning. I am a big advocate for building relationships with children and their families from the beginning of the year. Working together as a team throughout the year helps children be successful!
