Definition:
A mood disorder causing a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest.
Signs and Symptoms
2. Behavioral- excessive crying, self-harm, and social isolation.
3. Whole Body- hungry, loss of appetite, fatigue, and drowsy.
4. Weight- weight gain or weight loss.
Statistics
- As many as 1 in 33 children and 1 in 8 adolescents have clinic depression.
- People with depression are 4x more likely to develop a heart attack.
- 25% of cancer patients experience depression.
- 50% to 75% of eating disorder patients experience depression.
