Welcome to 2022-23 School Year

August 2, 2022

Dear Kennedy Families,

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Kennedy Middle School, I would like to welcome everyone to the 2022-23 school year!

As we are finishing up our summer, we are excited to welcome all our new and returning families. Our staff is excited to start the year, and we all look forward to getting to know all of you. As principal of Kennedy, I am honored to serve this community and continue to support the academic and social emotional growth of our students.

As we begin this school year, communication with you will be important. I will be sending a Cougar Connect message (our newsletter) Thursday evenings each week to update you on school events and news for the following week.

This newsletter will also be posted on our Kennedy Website and our school Facebook page. You will also be receiving principal video messages periodically updating students and families of upcoming school events. (Mr. Fanourgiakis Youtube Channel). Our awesome administrative team Chandra Leonardo, David Camarena, and Family Center Coordinator, Liz Calderon-Garcia, are also here to support you and our students each day.

During the first few weeks in August, please make sure you are receiving school communications. If you are not receiving school communications, that means your contact information is incorrect in our district PowerSchool database. The district will be sending you a link for you to update your information prior to the start of school. You can also call Kennedy school or visit the office if you need assistance. (Office staff returns Monday August 8th).

Maze Day is quickly approaching. On Maze Day, students receive their schedules, families complete PTO paperwork, and other important items. We strongly recommend that you attend, so please plan ahead. This will be a good opportunity for you and your student to familiarize yourselves with our campus.

If you cannot attend, there will be a second opportunity for your student to receive their schedule. Please have your student report to the Kennedy library 30 minutes before school begins on the first day, August 17th, to receive their schedule and assistance with any other questions they may have.

Below is the schedule for the start of school. This information and more is provided in the school packet you will be receiving at MAZE day.
