A Crash Course in Acids and Alkalines
We all crowded around the table as the instructor prepared the experiment. He blended cabbage juice to use a makeshift pH indicator.
Working with Chemicals
We were divided into groups and tested the pH of house hold chemicals. Lemon Juice, Vinegar, Liquid soap, Soda Water, Bicarbonate of Soda and Diluted ammonia.
Adding Indicator
This group adds the cabbage indicator carefully to a cup of ammonia.
Comparing Colours
This group compares their sample of chemicals to the pH scale.
Chemical Smoothie
Darby mixes together the tested chemicals to create a 'Chemical Smoothie' Do Not Drink!
Verdict
6C learned a lot during the Chemical Opposites course, about Acids and Alkalines and everyday chemicals. We enjoyed the course thouroghly and would recommend it to other classes.
