Community Service opportunities are coming in - don’t wait to complete your hours! You can find a link to any opportunities from our website: Genoa Student Activities. We also have a link on our Google Classroom to check your status.
Job Shadow Experience
- I enjoyed the experience a lot. I learned a bunch of things about piping in the City of Oregon and was able to look at their strategic plan on how they will update their pipe network over the next 20 years.
- The shadow was easy to get. Scheduling with my mentor was the hardest part because we had to coordinate our schedules. Mr. Larsen helped me all along the way.
- I recommend doing a job shadow because if it's something you want to go into, the job shadow is a good place to start so you can see exactly what the job entails.
Senior Community Service
This past weekend the Genoa Elementary hosted a santa secret shop and many of our Juniors and Seniors were there to help make it a success.
"Thank you for all of your help. These senior volunteers really make this event! The parents love them, the kids really like them too! We truly would not be able to do this without them. I didn't think it was possible, but this group was even better than last year!" Krysta Dickens

You're probably familiar with the saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words."
If a picture says a 1000 words, what do the 373 pictures behind Mr. Hartsel and I say? It's not a math question, so don't try to calculate it.
The 373 pictures say that every face that walks through the door at GHS matters. With those faces come names and a stories. Those stories are are filled with hopes, dreams and struggles. Every story at GHS is an important one!
While you may not feel qualified to help with calculus or physics, you could probably be of great help with those hopes, dreams and struggles. If you've ever wondered what it would look like to volunteer/mentor at GHS please reach out to me directly at 419.855.7741 ext.21101.
The Genoa community is an amazing one filled with wonderful people. We'd be happy to have more of you in our hallways!
As always,
Go Comets!
