Superintendent's Update - 10.13.2023
Dear CPS Community,
No need to fear, the second Friday the 13th of 2023 is here! October brings us the second of two Friday the 13ths in 2023 – the first one was on January 13th, which happens to make these two dates exactly 39 weeks (3x13 weeks) apart. Even spookier is that in 2024, there are also two Friday the 13ths only 13 weeks apart from each other. No wonder so many people have a fear of the number 13, otherwise known as Friggatriskaidekaphobia! Luckily for us, there is no need to fear this day, as it was filled with many exciting events and learning opportunities for the students of Chelmsford. Enjoy some of this week’s highlights below.
The events unfolding in the Middle East this week broadly affect every community including Chelmsford. Please be assured that staff members are here to support students and families who may be impacted by this tragedy. Our CPS counseling department has compiled and shared the resources below for families to help facilitate conversations at home. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our counseling department if your child needs further support.
The weather looks to be dry, yet brisk for many outdoor events this weekend. Hopefully, the clouds will clear enough to provide a chance to see the partial annular solar eclipse this Saturday. This “ring of fire” is expected in New England around 1:25 p.m. NASA has set up an interactive eclipse explorer as an option for viewing if the weather does not cooperate. Please enjoy this rare event and have a wonderful weekend.
Yours truly,
Jay Lang, Ed.D.
