Covid-19 Update
*Students are now required to wear masks in PE when they cannot socially distance.
*We now ask students to replace their masks as soon as they finish eating in the cafeteria.
*Please be reminded that in an effort to reduce the number of people near the exits at dismissal time, we would like parents to remain in their vehicles when possible.
*We continue to restrict visitors in the building.
*The doors open at 8:00 a.m. each morning. We are hoping to reduce the number of students being dropped off before 8:00 a.m. if at all possible. This will help minimize the large groups of students huddled by the doors in the morning.
*We have been teaching students how to log on to the virtual instruction platforms of Seesaw (K - 2) and Google Classroom (3 - 6) in case they should have to quarantine at any point due to exposure.
*Please be reminded that virtual instruction pick up days are Mondays and Thursdays.
*We are also in the process of creating a google site with links and parent information & instructions concerning how to log in and what is expected of your child when he/she is quarantined and therefore learning virtually.
Important Info Alert!
*Please be reminded that due to Governor Reynolds' proclomation, all youth sports and Junior High sports are currently postponed until further notice. Also, high school activities are not open to the general public. You must have a ticket from an athlete to be present.
*We have many students achieving their milestone reading steps. Please read with your child each evening to help him/her achieve their reading awards.
*Please mark your child's coat, hat, gloves and boots with his/her name.
Upcoming Dates!
*Tuesday, November 24th is our November PBIS Awards Virtual Assembly as well. We will award our November students of the month that have shown great respect and gratitude towards others.
*There is NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, November 25th, Thursday, November 26th, and Friday, November 27th due to Thanksgiving break.
*Thursday, December 10th will be hearing screenings for Danville Elementary students.
*We are currently planning and preparing for virtual Christmas concerts for our elementary students. We will host virtual concerts on Wednesday, December 16th (Kinder & 1st), Thursday, December 17th (2nd & 3rd) and Friday, December 18th (4th, 5th & 6th). These events will be live. The link to view the concerts will be shared when we get closer to the dates.
*Monday, December 7th is the next Danville CSD School Board meeting.
Bank News
Dear Parents and Students in Grades 2nd-6th,
At Danville Elementary we are excited about continuing an educational project, which will give students the opportunity to gain insights into the organization and operation of a savings bank through hands-on participation. In cooperation with our business education partner, Danville State Savings Bank, “Bear Pride Savings Bank” was established at Danville Elementary creating a true-to-life example of a banking operation. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, we are unable to provide the Bear Pride Savings Bank here at school, but the students can go to Danville State Savings Bank to continue to make weekly deposits.
Any student who is enrolled in grades 2-6 may make deposits. Before a child will be allowed to open an account, he/she must complete an Account Application and Permission Form, which ask for parental signatures, student social security numbers, and addresses. These forms are available at the Danville State Savings Bank. A recommended deposit of at least $1.00 is required to open an account, and deposits up to $20.00 may be made weekly. $50.00 may be deposited at Christmas time and for your child’s birthday. Any withdrawal of $5.00 or more requires a parental signature. Students who have already opened an account do not need to fill out an application again this year. Students earn 5% in their savings account.
If you have questions, or would like further information, you may contact me Ashley Johnson at ashley.johnson@danvillecsd.org or Deanne Schlarbaum at the Danville Bank 392-4261.
Bank hours are Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Friday - 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Saturday - 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.Check out this video created by some of Mrs. Johnson's TAG students concerning the Elementary Banking Program.
