What is an electromagnetic wave?

Electromagnetic radiation travels as waves and transfers energy from one place to the next. They are capable of traveling through a vaccuum.

What kind of disturbance creates an electromagnetic wave?

Vibrating electirc charges create an electromagnetic wave.

What 2 ways are electromagnetic waves different from mechanical waves?

While mechanical waves have to travel through a medium, an electromagnetic wave does not require a medium to propagate. Also, electromagnetic waves come in a range of frequencies, but mechanical waves only have certain frequencies.
