Pearl Harbor
On December 7,1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor. The barrage lasted two hours, but it was devastating. The Japanese managed to destroy twenty American naval vessels. More than two thousand American soldiers and sailors died in the attack. One thousand Americans were wounded.
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Franklin D. Roosevelt was born in 1882 in Hyde Park, New York. He was elected president in November in 1932. He was the thirty second president. He was the president during the Great Depression. He signed the Social Security Act on august 14,1935.
