PASD Spring Literacy Festival - March 3rd
Parents of first, second, and third grade students are invited to learn more about resources to support their child’s literacy achievement at our 2018 Spring Literacy Festival.
The 2018 Spring Literacy Festival will be held on Saturday, March 3rd from 9:30-10:30 AM in the library at Pine Street Elementary School. This is right before the PTO Scholastic Book Fair. Information and resources related to comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and literacy technology will be presented and shared with parents.
We will also have entertainment for students while parents attend the Literacy Festival in the library. Siblings are welcome to attend.
If interested and able to attend, please click here to sign up.
Understanding What Is Read
Actually reading words is one part of reading. The other half of reading is understanding what is read or comprehending the text. We read to get meaning from what is written. Comprehension is the ability to understand what is read. This is an important part of developing as a reader.
Making Connections
When reading, encourage your child to make connections. Making connections to things he or she already knows or has read about before helps increase comprehension.
