Teams will leave with a solid plan of action to recharge the culture of their building. The first cohort was thrilled with how the day of dialogue helped their leadership team FOCUS on what mattered. Oakland County Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Network
Is your district getting the results you want from your current MTSS system?
Are you using MTSS to meet the requirements of Michigan’s 3rd grade reading legislation?
Is culture or social-emotional learning/behavior a barrier to your MTSS implementation?
Join us for the launch of the Oakland County MTSS Network. We are inviting 1-3 leaders per district with responsibilities related to MTSS (formerly RTI) to come to Oakland Schools to connect with others across the county in similar roles, share the current state of MTSS in your districts, and build common understanding of MTSS.
Facilitated by the Oakland Schools MTSS Team: Jan Callis, Karen Gomez, Michele Farah, Jill Jessen-Maneice, Diane Katakowski, Susan Koceski, Steven Snead, and Shawna Veit

More Professional Learning
Students bring their culture to our schools and classrooms. The teaching staff become part of that culture. The challenge is to create, collaboratively, a culture of learning within the space given.
We are excited to offer a comprehensive array of opportunities to help district staff become more intentional about the experiences they design. The overall vision of the series was created collaboratively with Oakland County teachers and Oakland Schools staff from School Quality and Special Education who considered the crosswalk between teacher evaluation, important frameworks and the thinking of leading researchers in the field.
The series is sure to offer something for everyone. Preventative or responsive; Saturdays, half-days, virtual and face -to –face opportunities will exist.
Foundations: The Art (And Heart) of Teaching
During challenging times, it is important to get grounded in WHY we chose teaching. Teachers who are grounded in their personal values and beliefs around their practice have increased well-being and efficacy. The focus of this two-day reflective experience is on exploring and clarifying our identities, values and beliefs around teaching and learning; demystifying what it takes to create the space/place we want and making our vision transparent for cultural transformation. This first class is considered foundational as it will pave the way for participants to dive more deeply into “culture” with other on-line and face to face opportunities. Teachers are the primary audience. Designed/Facilitated by: Bryan Dean, Mary Perfitt-Nelson $25.00 per person includes lunch

Building Effective Relationships
This professional learning experience is part of a comprehensive effort to address student engagement. Relationships are paramount for engagement. Most important are student's relationships with teachers, their school and their learning. The morning will be related to motivation, engagement and teaching for engagement. The afternoon we will unpack Robyn Jackson's book entitled: "How To Motivate Reluctant Learners" to learn how to intervene with and support unengaged students. There will be plenty of conversation and opportunity to grow learning around student engagement. The book is FREE! Cost if for lunch only! Facilitated by Bryan Dean and Mary Perfitt-Nelson
Feedback from Building Effective Relationships: Cohort 1
Responding To Disruptions
This professional learning experience is designed for educators who want to examine, more closely, the nature of classroom disruptions they experience. By identifying a target of advancement, participants will consider underlying causes and explore effective ways to support and intervene. Facilitated by Mary Perfitt-Nelson. Consider Foundations, the Art and Heart of Teaching and The Classroom Environment for a more comprehensive learning experience. Based on the work of Randy Sprick and CHAMPS.
