Edcamp South
Edcamp is a FREE conference and is not like traditional conferences. There is no planned conference agenda. You pick the sessions that you would like to go to when you get there. If you want to present on a topic or facilitate a discussion, you can sign up the morning of the conference. Next, there is not a keynote speaker. There is the belief that educators should not have to pay at every conference just to hear valuable and timely information.
If you would like to register for Edcamp South, please visit http://goo.gl/hHXAQD.
Hope to see you there!
Ipad Guided Access
The Guided Access feature will allow you to lock the ipad to a specific app in which you want your student to work with just a few simple steps! Using Guided Access ensures that your students remain on the teacher selected app.
Here's how to enable Guided Access:
- Click on the Settings App on your ipad or iphone.
- Tap on General.
- Tap on Accessibility.
- Tap on Guided Access under the Learning section.
- Turn Guided Access on.
- Set a passcode.
- Turn Accessibility Shortcut on so that you can Triple Click to turn Guided Access on.
Using Guided Access:
- Open the app you want the student to use.
- Triple Click the Home button.
- Tap Options to choose any options you would like to grant the student and then tap Done.
- Tap Start at the top of the screen.
If the student tries to leave the selected app once Guided Access has been enabled, a banner will appear that tells him/her to triple click the home button. The student will be asked for the passcode to exit the app, but since you are the only one with the passcode, he/she will be unable to leave the app.
Hour of Code Is Near!
Anyone can participate in the Hour of Code. If you are interested, visit the site for more information. There are FAQs, tutorials, and videos on how to get started. You do not have to have prior coding experience. Do it! You will be glad you did!
