What's Buzzin' at Bryant

Week of August 21, 2023

A Message from Mrs. Johnson

Hello Bryant families,

What a wonderful first week of school! It was so great to have the students back on campus. Our 1st - 6th graders got right back into the swing of things. Bryant's new Terrific TKs and Kind Kinders learned the- routine quickly. By Wednesday they were putting up their backpack in the morning and heading to the playground with ease.

Last week, some teachers may have sent home instructions on how to connect to their class communication system (Class Dojo, Class Remind, etc.). Please be sure to join. Your classroom teacher will keep you up to date on the latest classroom announcements. I know at times you may have a question for the teacher regarding work or how your child is doing for the day. Teachers may not respond to messages sent until after school as they are working with teaching and working with students during the school day. If you have important messages such as a change in who will be picking your child up from school or a reminder that your child may not be going to HEARTS for the day, please call the main office. The front office staff will make sure the teacher receives the message in a timely manner.

Lastly, our area is predicted to have heavy wind and rain on Monday. SCHOOL WILL BE IN SESSION. Please be sure your little one is at school, on time, ready to learn.

As always, thank you so much for being such wonderful partners. We are here for you and your child! Have a fantastic week!

Join a Bryant Parent Group!

Parent, we need you! Joining one, two, or all of Bryant's parent groups are a wonderful way for you to get involved in what's going on with the school community. We are always looking for enthusiastic new members to join our team. Be part of planning school activities, fundraising, budget planning, etc. Most meetings are held after school with the option of attending virtually or in-person. We look forward to seeing you at one of our meetings.

Attendance Matters!

Regular school attendance is the best predictor of a students success. If you child is at school on time every day, teachers have a better opportunity to identify and address any needs your child may have. It also helps to ensure your child feels as if he/she is part of the learning community. It can be very hard to enter into an enviornment when you feel as if you don't have a good grasp on what is going on specifically because you have been absent from school. This includes being tardy. Routines. schedules, and expecations for the day are established in the first few minutes of class. Although it may seem like it's not important, it helps classes establish community. Let's be good Bryant Bees! Please ensure your child is at school, on time, every day!

Parking in the Community

Bryant is a very small community school with NO parking lot. All staff and visitors must rely on street parking. We must be mindful of our neighbors that live in the homes adjacent to the schools perimeter. Please do not park in a manner that may block a homeowners driveway. Trash day is every Thursday and it is important for all homeowners to have their trash picked up. Please do not block anyone trash cans as this may impact their trash being picked up by waste managment for the City of Riverside. Street sweeping day is every Friday. Please be sure to read the signs regarding which side will be serviced each week.

The safety of our students and families is our first priority. DO NOT stop your car in the middle of the street and let your child to get out or stop to load children into the car. Although we plead with parents/guardians not to do this, it is a practice we observe every day. This practice is very unsafe. The extra five or 10 minutes it will take drop your children off or pick them up is worth their safety and the safety of all other Bryant community members. Lastly, please do not block cross walks when parking. Doing this impacts the ability of children to safely cross the street.

Drivers will be responsible for any parking tickets or moving voiolations that are issued by RPD or parking enforcement. This is not the responsibility of the school site or the school district. Thank you in advance for considering the safety of our students.

Returning parents will not be required to print and submit hard copies of the Emergency Card. If you have questions or need support with completing the data confirmation online, please contact the main office. We will be happy to help.

Parent - Student handbook

Please take a minute to read/review the 23-24 Parent-student handbook with your child.
