Message from the Principal
Dear Hornet Nation,
Welcome back from what I hope was a restful and enjoyable spring break with family and friends. As we start this week, keep in mind that the third marking period ends this Friday, April 9. There will be a two-hour early release day on Monday, April 12 for teachers to work on marking period grades. Monday is also the start of the 4th marking period. I encourage all students to communicate with their teachers on any missing assignments or work they need to complete before the marking period ends. As we head into spring, we have several exciting things to look forward to such as spring sports, prom, and graduation to name a few. I need everyone to stay engaged and on point with all their classes as we enter the fourth and final marking period.
Have a great week and remember…..
We Are....Great Mills!!!
Sincerely,
Dr. Heibel

Four Day In-Person Learning Requests
Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 6 we finish out the last week of Marking Period 3 by returning to hybrid and virtual learning on a B-Day. If you have not done so already, please take some time to read Dr. Smith’s letter sent on Thursday, March 25 (link below). Students who are invited to return to our four days of in-person learning during the 4th marking period will be contacted directly by their assistant principal. Please do not send your student for the four-day program if you have not heard from a school representative. If you have questions, please contact your student’s Assistant Principal.
Finally, you and your student will be receiving our GMHS 4th marking period attendance survey later this week. Filling out the survey will let the school administration know if you want your student to return to hybrid learning from virtual learning OR feel your student meets the criteria for returning to our four-day in-person learning. Please take a moment to complete the survey so that we have accurate information, thank you.

Counselors' Scheduling/Registration Plan for the 21-22 SY:
Greetings from the school counselors. We wanted to inform everyone of the scheduling/registration timeline and plan.
- Teacher Recommendations: Students and Parents will be able to view teacher recommendations in HAC April 12th.
- Informational Slide Presentation: Counselors will email a Google Slide Presentation to Rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students on April 6th. This includes the CSM Dual Enrollment Access Information!
- Google Form: Similar to last school year, counselors will send a Google Form to students via school email to choose their electives for next year. We will send it one week before we start scheduling that grade level.
- Dates students will receive the Google Form: Rising 12th Grade-April 7th; Rising 11th Grade-April 20th; Rising 10th Grade-May 4th
- Scheduling Courses with Rising Seniors: Counselors will meet with rising 12th graders to choose classes for next year. In person students-meet one on one 5th period/or an elective period. Virtual students: Google Meets appointments Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during asynchronous learning. The time frame for this group is April 13th-April 27th.
- Scheduling Courses with Rising 10th & 11th Grade: Counselors will use Google Form responses and teacher recommendations to enter course requests. We will email students to check HAC for their requests once we have finished entering them for that grade level. We can schedule Google Meets and in-person for those students and/or parents that need to discuss further. The time frame for rising 11th grade is April 27th-May 11th. The time frame for rising 10th grade is May 11-25th. .
- We are starting registration a month later than normal, therefore we do not have the time to meet one on one with every rising 10th and 11th grader.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We look forward to working together!
