Notes from Onondaga Road
April 28, 2023
Message From Onondaga Road School Principal
Hello, Onondaga Road Families -
We have been really busy at Onondaga Road, and we sure have a busy few weeks ahead, too!
Today we practiced two safety drills at school, so be sure to ask your child what two drills we did, and what is their role in each of the safety drills.
If you have a child who is ready to enter Kindergarten in the fall but you haven't had a chance to register them yet, please be sure to contact us as soon as possible. We are beginning to organize for incoming classes, so it's important that we have an accurate count!
If you have a 4th grade child who will be going to 5th grade at West Genesee Intermediate/Middle School, you should have received a note asking if your child is going to participate in band, orchestra, and/or chorus for next school year. If the answer is yes, they are going to participate in the music programs, be sure to return that form as soon as possible! If you can't find it, simply write me a note so I can help communicate to the WGMS for their scheduling purposes.
It is a really great time of year for you to help us reiterate bus safety rules for all of our kids. I would appreciate you having an earnest discussion with your child about their own behavior and responsibilities as a bus rider, assuming that everyone needs a safety reminder once in a while!
Finally, next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, our 3rd and 4th grade students will take the New York State Math Assessment. They are ready to show what they know, so thank you for your support and for reminding your chld to just do their very best!
As always, please feel free to contact us at school with any questions as we head into the month of May.
Respectfully,
Jeannette Clark
Positivity Project
#PositivityInAction! Next week we will learn about enthusiasm as a character strength. Please use the link to help guide your conversations with your children about this positive characteristic.
PTA News
Thanks to our OR PTA for organizing some fun for our staff during Staff Appreciation Week, which is coming up May 8-12! They are providing lunch one day, and many parents have volunteered to supervise recess throughout the week so our teachers can have a snack break while the children play! Many thanks also to families who have helped make teachers' dreams come true by fulfilling wishlists and providing class supplies. What a nice treat!
Be on the lookout next week for our PTA Newsletter which is being sent home. It is full of upcoming events and opportunities for you and your family to be involved.
Our next PTA meeting will be on May 23, 2023, at 6:00 in the Onondaga Road School Library. Feel free to join us!
