MESSAGE FROM DR. CHURCH

Dear Totem Falls Parents,

Report cards are coming home today with your student and this is a great opportunity to celebrate their achievement as well as set a goal or two for second semester. It is a significant celebration that we are back in school in person. Many students have worked hard to “re-learn” what it means to be a student in their classroom and a friend at recess. Also remembering that so many of our younger students didn’t know what it meant to be in school every day, all day. I am proud of the way they have worked hard to be good Ravens. Their report card may have numbers and comments that help guide your conversation with them about what they are proud of and where they want to grow. We still have a lot of learning time left in the year and are excited to continue positive trends in their academics, behavior, and enthusiasm for school.

I hope you have a fantastic long weekend.

Sincerely,

Craig

LIBRARY NEWS

AFTER SCHOOL BOOK CLUB
Last Friday, our library, together with the Snohomish public library, hosted our first IN PERSON After School Book Club in over 2 years for Front Desk by Kelly Yang for 34 of our TF students in grades 4-6. Our Book Club was also lucky to Zoom with the amazing and inspiring author, Kelly Yang together! Thank you to our students for reading this book and sharing the love of reading with us! We can't wait to announce our next After School Book Club title soon! Stay tuned!

WHAT'S YOUR PANDEMIC STORY?

Publishing opportunity for our student writers!
WRITING CHALLENGE: NOW until March 4th

Author, Kelly Yang, of Front Desk shared an inspiring STUDENT PUBLISHING OPPORTUNITY. Kelly Yang and her three kids moved from Hong Kong to America in January 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic. Kelly Yang's next book is told through the eyes of her middle child during the start of the pandemic. Kelly Yang is challenging students to share their OWN PANDEMIC STORY in 200 words or less with her.

Check out KELLY YANG’S WEBSITE for more information and read some inspiring student entries.

STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS

This month our student council, along with Ravens in Mrs. Bonner’s class, focused on spreading kindness to our community by painting flower pots, planting Primroses, and providing treats and activities to the residents of the Genesis Everett Center. Lucas Coleman, student council representative in 5th grade delivered the materials to the activity director this past weekend. The students provided much more than flowers and treats, they put smiles on the faces of many and showed how much Ravens care.
