HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 4 - 1 March 2019
FROM MARK
Dear Parents/Guardians
We had another great turnout at today’s assembly. So good to see so many there – thank you all for joining us! Congratulations to Anthony and the Three Catherine gang for a wonderful journey through what you have been up to and what you like to do – what fun!
Thank you to everyone able to make the HRC (Holy Rosary Community) Sundowner on Friday. The HRC set great store by community. Your support means a great deal.
The 60th anniversary celebrations of our parish of which our school is part, went really well with a great turnout of families and staff. Again, thank you very much for your support.
Plenty was discussed at the first HRC meeting for the year on Tuesday. These are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month and work really well to engage people with what is happening around our community, and why. The meetings take place in the staff room. If you can come along, please do.
Ash Wednesday Mass next week marks the beginning of Lent, and is our first School (Years 1-5) Mass. It will be a lovely liturgical celebration and we welcome your presence.
Have a great weekend.

2019 RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS COLLECTION
Impetigo (School Sores)
Impetigo is an infection of the skin caused by bacteria. It is often called school sores because it is common among school children. Impetigo causes sores on the skin, which are usually itchy. The sores may start out as blisters that burst and become weepy, before being covered with a crust.
Impetigo is not usually a serious infection, and should clear up a few days after starting medical treatment. Children with impetigo are very infectious (contagious), but the spread of impetigo can be reduced by practising good hygiene, covering the sores with dressings and keeping your child away from other children until they are no longer infectious.
Key points to remember
- Impetigo is very infectious and can be easily spread to other children.
- Try to prevent your child scratching the sores as much as possible. Cover the sores with a watertight dressing and cut your child's fingernails.
- It is important to remove the scabs from the sores.
- Complete all courses of antibiotics as prescribed and continue treatment with creams or ointments until all sores are healed.
- Your child can go back to school after 24 hours of treatment and when the sores are completely covered with dressings.

GENERAL NOTICES
‘We have slightly changed how we will be running the competition and now teams only need to have 5 players (max 6/team) so not so many players which means more game time.
We understand it is difficult for children so young (and parents) who know nothing about hockey to commit to a team and therefore would like to invite any interested Year 1 or Year 2 students to come along to one of our Mini Knights afternoons where we play hockey games in a fun and safe environment.
We run a Mini Knights program from 3:30 - 4:30pm on Monday afternoons on the oval at Newman College, Churchlands. Tim Ashford, a Holy Rosary Dad, is our head coach for this program and has been instrumental in putting this program together for our next generation of hockey enthusiasts. The program is designed for children in Pre-primary to Year 4 who are brand new to hockey and gives them a taste of the game before committing to a team. The invitation also extends to any Preprimary, Year 3 and Year 4 students who would like to try hockey. Our Term 1 program started a few weeks ago, but we still have 3 sessions left and would welcome any Holy Rosary students who would like to come down and try a session for free.
All we ask is that they contact me to register their interest so I can organise them a hockey stick to use on the day and also a name tag for them to wear. I can be contacted via email jpac_k@yahoo.com.au or mobile 0412 866 211.
