Cole and Williams Advocate for Career and Technical Education

Seth Cole and Elissa Williams recently attended a meeting at the Guy Fentor Educational Service Cooperative and shared information about the Marketing Education Program of Study with Dr. Angela Kremers, Director of the Division of Career and Technical Education for the State of Arkansas.

“I was honored to be asked to share our Marketing and DECA story with Dr. Kremers,” stated Williams. “It is encouraging to meet with other students who are involved in CTE and learn about how their CTSO’s are preparing them for life outside of high school. Plus meeting the people who provide some of our resources for us was awesome!”

Cole and Williams spoke about the activities undertaken by the Alma Marketing program from the Career and Technical Student Organization activities (Alma DECA), to community involvement, to academic competitive events, to running a school based enterprise, to how being a member of the GFESC assists the program and impacts student and teacher learning.

In addition to Cole and Williams, a team from Van Buren Robotics, Paris FFA and Ozark FBLA shared their CTE experience.

This project is designed to allow students to contribute to our community through their artistic talent. A group of Alma High School’s Art II and Art III students spent the day painting a mural on the walls at The Boys and Girls Club.
