Pictures of Hollis Woods is a book about a young orphan girl who is just trying to fit in on this world. When she finally finds a foster parent named Josie, she feels like she finally fits in. As Hollis is finally feeling at home with Josie in her house, the counselor from the orphanage says that Hollis can't live with Josie anymore because of her old age and memory loss. The night before the counselor was supposed to pick up Hollis to take her back the the orphanage, Hollis and Josie escape to the house in the branches. Now your probably wondering what is "the house in the branches", well I'll tell you. The house in the branches is where Hollis used to live with her old foster family, they loved her dearly but they found no space in the house for all of them, so they moved but told Hollis that the house was hers. After a while of living there Josie was staring to miss her home and her cousin Beatrice. As Hollis was walikng to the payphone to call Beatrice to come pick up Josie she sees her old foster brother Steven Reagen. Of course Steven tells Hollis to come back home with them, and how can Hollis say no to that? So in the end, Hollis now lives with the Reagans, while Josie is now back home with her cousin .Beatrice, Hollis and Josie still keep in contact.

Conflict being resolved

Hollis finally felt like she could fit in when she was living with Josie. But because of her old age and memory loss the counselor from the orphanage didn't want Hollis living with Josie anymore. Hollis was not okay with this, so her and Josie went to the house in the branches. after a while of being there, Josie was starting to miss her home and her cousin Beatrice. As Hollis was walikng to the payphone to call Beatrice to come pick Josie up, she ran into her old foster brother Steven Reagen. Steven asked Josie to come back and live with the Reagans and she said yes. So in the end Hollis went back with the Reagans and Josie went back home to Beatrice.
