Activating Unified Gospel Initiatives

Word from the Director

Do you ever feel like the nation and the world are shaking around you? It seems like we go from one crazy day to the next in terms of the sensationalist "instant news" of social media and the increasingly partisan pushes of mainstream media outlets. It can straight up raise your anxiety level, unless . . . you unplug and learn about some of the ways devoted believers are engaging our world.

Did you know that a number of churches in the Sacramento area have started their year with a 21 day fast? In Fresno, dozens of churches are doing the same - together - in what has become a tradition in that city. Hearing from God and doing his work together - so good.

How about grass roots work to make a difference right where you live? Big Day of Service 2019 is in the active planning stages for the communities of Orangevale and Fair Oaks. These kinds of service projects are actively promoted by Loving Our Cities in Modesto, CA where the next Love Modesto is coming up again in April.

And how about people and churches realizing and taking action to engage in relationships and talk about the goodness of knowing God through Jesus Christ? Intervarsity's annual Urbana missions conference at the end of December was packed with eager Gen Z and Millennial believers ready to commit their lives to service and mission. And, the Send coming up in February will fill Camping World Stadium in Orlando for a day of prayer and commission for those present to be activated to live out the lifestyle of Jesus. MissionHub is doing this for people and entire churches through an app designed to activate daily missional living with those whom we live work, learn and play.

Be encouraged. Be engaged. Be hopeful.

Big picture

Partnership with MissionHub

The ACTS Group continues to work with Cru Digital Missions as the MissionHub app is launched into use by entire churches. This app helps believers identify the people in their life that they want to be engaged with in witness and spiritual development. It is activating believers into steps of faith on a regular basis. With over 10,000 downloads, its use and visibility are growing as we enter 2019. You can learn more about MissionHub here.

  • Reminders that help you pray with consistency.
  • Easy search capability for a word or phrase.
  • Contains direct links to Operation World and the beautifully produced Prayercast videos.
  • The prayer guide is with you anywhere at anytime.
  • The app encourages united prayer with others anywhere in the world.

Download the app from iTunes, Google Play or Android Appstore for your smartphone or tablet for only $0.99. This 40-day prayer journey begins on March 6. You can use the app before and also long after the 40 days are completed.

Big Day of Service

Big Day of Service is a grassroots, all-volunteer led initiative to make a positive impact in Orangevale and Fair Oaks. The first event in 2018 exceeded expectations with over 1,000 people participating. The goal is to unite the community around the idea that we can all make things better by working together. In 2019, the planning team is expecting 1,000 volunteers to tackle at least 35 local projects to beautify and improve our neighborhoods. Community leaders from business, churches, nonprofits and government -- including representatives from County Supervisor Sue Frost’s office - are looking for project suggestions as well as more project leaders and volunteers. Communities get better when they serve together, and everyone can play a role in making this happen.

You can make your contribution to The ACTS Group

The ACTS Group continues to do our work based on the support of individual and church financial partnership. Monthly partners help us to plan with confidence the work that we can do. If you have been aware of this ministry and never made a contribution, we encourage you to do so now here. Monthly giving partners are particularly helpful. If you would be willing to join our monthly donors, please contact Merisa Moy at and she will help you through the simple process.

The ACTS Group is...

activating unified gospel initiatives in communities and cities. Gospel-based activators provide expertise, guidance, training and outcome tracking that helps leaders accelerate gospel movement in their local community and the spheres of cultural influence of the city.
