SNOW DAY FUN!! This is going to be a long newsletter....
Last Friday our Pre-K children got to enjoy the Snow Day Fun in the gym. They had a blast and visited all of the stations. They had free choice of activities and explored with curiosity and giggles. MANY THANKS to all the volunteers who put this together for our school to enjoy!
I took as many pictures as I could so that you can view their fun. I tried to get pics of all our kids doing everything all at the same time. So, hang on...there's SEVERAL pics to look at. I don't have the best phone camera but I do hope you can enjoy their fun.
The Night Tree Project
- We will locate a tree to hang up a birdfeeder.
- We will be sending home all ornaments and birdfeeders this week.
- We will learn about tallying, subitizing with dice, and continue letter practice.
ReadyRosie - DRUMMING SOUNDS
Play this game to help your child listen to the first, middle, and last sounds in a word. Imitate a drummer and use kitchen utensils to slowly tap each sound (s-u-n). Then try the drumroll as you blend the sounds together (SUN!). Let your child try a different word!
Why It's Important
Children who can blend and segment spoken sounds will have an easier time when it comes to reading and spelling words.
Not Ready Yet
Allow your child to say the sounds and words with you. You may hold the child's hand to provide support in drumming the sounds.
Need a Challenge
Encourage your child to choose words to segment and drum. Use a familiar book such as "Three Little Pigs" and encourage the child to select words to segment by looking at the pictures.
REMINDERS:
- Check Class Dojo everyday for messages.
- Sign your child's Read To Me log and Daily Reflection Form every night.
- Return the Red Book Bags every Thursday morning.
