Eye of the Dragon
John Dewey Academy of Learning * December 11-15, 2017
A TIME FOR GIVING
We are always busy learning at JDAL, but the excitement of the holidays and the variety of fun events makes it seem even busier! Students have been helping others in our community, attending new workshops, and preparing for upcoming tours and projects. Some students have started to organize a clothing boutique for their fellow students who may need help finding clothing for their job shadows, interviews, or community expert interviews. Although they have a great start with clothing donated by staff members, they are still in need of more, especially size small in men, women, and gender-neutral items. Other items that would be helpful included dress shoes, ties, belts, and purses.
We have an eventful week before break. Our students (and any interested parents) will be having school at the Brown County Library on December 20th. We expect all students to attend this special event so they can contribute to the planning of JDAL's future and how project-based learning should look at our school. We want all students' voices heard and encourage parents to join in the fun as well. Lunch will be provided, but students may bring a cold lunch if they have special favorites. Do not plan on a microwave being available.
We also have student-led conferences on Dec 21 and 22. Students and their parent/guardian need to attend school during their selected appointment. Conferences are a very important part of our community at JDAL as it gives everyone involved an opportunity to discuss the progress that is being made. Please use the following link on or after December 13th to sign up for conferences: slc link.
Thank you for being a dragon! We appreciate you and we believe in you.
With gratitude,
Jen + the JDAL Staff
