Overcoming Obstacles

Walt Disney- By Kendra Barlow

Walter Ellas Disney was born on December 5, 1901. He was born in Chicago, Illinois.

As a kid, Walt Disney was always working. He worked before and after school and often fell asleep in class. His last formal year of education was in eighth grade. Disney would still teach himself things and continue to learn.

Man vs Society

Walt Disney was turned down multiple times when submitting cartoons to humor magazines. He was a self taught artist and earned money in France for drawing cartoons and caricatures. He kept working at what he loved doing and that was animation. Even though he had a rough start, he stayed positive. "Around here... we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things because we're curious... and curiosity keeps us leading down a new path."

When he first moved to Hollywood, he couldn't find a job he wanted as a director so he worked as a cartoonist and made Mickey cartoons. He ended up going down a successful path. His first movie that he made was Snow White and it made over $8 million. He as well made Disneyland.
