Gladiator Greatness
Members of the CCHS Ecology Club, Isabella Gonzalez, Raymond Pan, Elena Webber, and Robbie Isakovich (pictured right), volunteered last month to collect water samples in support of the Upper Oconee Watershed Network.
Clarke Central High School teachers nominated more than 50 students to apply for the Governor's Honors Program. Please congratulate these eight who were selected to apply at the state level: Elizabeth Scott (Band), Clementine Acheson (Dance), Tomas Dougan (Visual Art), Ludwig Lechtreck (Science), Will Harden (Math), Ietta Veeder (French), Kurali Grantham (Social Studies,) and Ireland McCage (Communicative Arts).
On Friday, November 15th, 2019, Brigadier General (Retired) Velma L. Richardson visited with the JROTC Staff Class. This is the first time the department was able to experience a General Officer in the JROTC building. Hooah!
Samantha Brodrick, Theron Camp, and Sophia Woods had works selected from the CCSD Biennial Student Art exhibit for inclusion in an additional show to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Alice H. Richards Children's Garden at the Botanical Gardens.
The Women and Gender Studies Club hosted its second annual Trunk or Treat on Halloween night. Check out pictures from the event courtesy of Odyssey Newsmagazine.
Uche Ununkwo and Aravian Thomas won 1st and 2nd place respectively in the essay component of the Omega Psi Phi Scholarship. Uche’s essay will be submitted at the state level for a chance for to win another scholarship.
Senior Isaac Ward was named the Nakanishi Manufacturing Athens Banner-Herald High School Football Player of the Week on November 14th. Read about it on Online Athens.
The Gladiator football team are 2019 Region 5A Champs! Read about their exciting season in the Atlanta Journal Constitution's article "Rebuilding the Clarke Central Legacy."
Senior Alex Robinson was selected as the Clarke County School District nominee for US Presidential Scholar and will continue to the next round of the competition.
The boys soccer team entered a video to win a grant from the the Powerade Power Your School program. Check out their inspirational video on YouTube or below.
