We are 'All-In' this Together at Mathews!
Friday the 13th and a FULL MOON!
Indeed! It is Friday the 13th and it is a full moon but it was still a grand day at Mathews as we wrapped up another week of learning.
Please consider sending your Mav with a jar of peanut butter to school next week. We want our students to know ever gesture of kindness makes a difference. Our goal is 250 jars. If we make our goal, all classes will be eligible for a drawing. Winning classes will have Mr. Steele or Mrs. Powell read to their classroom. A big thank you to our Student Council officers for taking on this opportunity the first week/month in office!
On another note, Attendance matters. Please review the information regarding attendance on the two buttons at the bottom of this SMORE. We want and need your child(ren) at school to provide the best learning experience possible. Please plan getaways during school holidays. Attendance not only affects your child's learning but also our school's performance. Did you know that Attendance is part of the state criteria in identifying high performance schools?
We understand the importance of attending 'Once in a Lifetime' family events and want our children home when they are sick and need to be home. We truly want to work with you.
All we ask is that you please work with us regarding your child's attendance at school. Set the example that school is important by making it a point to be at school.

SEPTEMBER IS PEANUT BUTTER MONTH!
'Spread' the Word...
Let's teach our children how even the smallest act of kindness when provided by many makes a BIG difference in our community.
Students are encouraged to bring jars of Peanut Butter to school to donate to the North Texas Food Pantry.
We have donations drop-offs at both of the main doors as students enter the building.
Together we make a difference.

Save the Date...
For many parents it is helpful to have these dates as far in advance as possible in order to be able to schedule time off work, or reschedule a trip or meeting in order to attend.
Any new events are updated in your Smore weekly.
Our theme for the 2019-2020 school year is "All-In". We are looking forward to a great year and hope you will be able to join us for special events.
