Reminder - NHS Induction Ceremony this Sunday
The National Honor Society Induction Ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 2 pm in the MHS Main Gym. All current Senior members of NHS are required to attend. They will be receiving their honor cords to wear during the graduation commencement ceremony on May 25th.
Also, all Juniors who have been invited to join 2022-2023 Chemic Chapter of the National Honor Society will also be inducted at this time. (Juniors will be notified of their invitation to join on Monday, 4/25, by Mrs. Schurman.)
The parents of all students participating are invited to attend.
Senior Sunset is this Sunday!!!!
If you have a Senior student, please remind them:
Senior Sunset is THIS SUNDAY from 6-8:30pm.
Rain or shine!! If it's raining, come to the main gym. If not, head to the stadium.
Wear or bring your MHS Legacy shirt: Mr. Schaffert will be there at 8 PM for the Senior Class photo (in the gym before the slide show)

Focus, Midland High’s school newspaper published by members of the beginning and advanced journalism classes, received many high honors at the annual spring conference and awards ceremony hosted by the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association.
Focus won the Spartan Award – the highest ranking given a school newspaper in Michigan – for overall journalistic excellence. It is the 29th Spartan in Midland High history.
“Reading The Focus, I was impressed by the professionalism, not only in writing, but also in design,” said the judge who critiqued the paper. “Midland High can be so proud of its extensive journalism program and outstanding publication.”
Journalists from the Focus newspaper won 57 individual awards this year. Awards were announced via livestream over the past two weeks.
Editors for the 2021-22 Focus were Editor-in-Chief Julian M. Longlet, Managing Editor Brenden Granzo, Design Editor Lauren Applegate, Photo Editor Lindsey Jacobson, Web Editor Emma Miller, News Editor Savanna Willis, Sports Editor Grace Lloyd, Features Editor Erica DesJardins, Opinion Editor Mia Allen, Arts & Entertainment Editor Myah Shelton, Copy Editor Emily Genau, Exchange Editor Ainsley Newcomb and Ad Coordinator Hannah Monville.

Important Info Regarding Upcoming Advanced Placement Exams
Summer School for Credit Recovery Offered this Summer
If your student failed a 1st semester class, Summer School to earn credit recovery will be available for them this summer. Classes will run from June 6 through June 30, 2022, and will be held at MHS.
We will notify students (based on their failed classes from 1st Semester) next week if they are expected to participate in the summer school program.
Two sessions a day will be offered-a morning session from 8am-11am and an afternoon session from 11:45am -2:45pm.

Another STEM Opportunity - Teen STEM Cafe @ SVSU
STEM@SVSU and the GLBR East Chief Science Officers are excited to offer a FREE Teen Science Café on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 5:30 - 8:00 pm. Teen Science Café events allow teens and STEM professionals to engage in meaningful conversations and explore advances in science and technology. This event is open to any student in 6th - 12th grade in the Great Lakes Bay Region (Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Midland, Saginaw counties), as well as Huron and Tuscola counties.
Teen Science Cafés are always Free, Fun, and have Food! Pizza will be provided for dinner.
