BEN Bolt News
April 2021 Edition
Principal's Corner
Dear Ben Bolt Families:
We have moved the clocks forward and Spring has arrived. It is hard to believe we will soon be starting the fourth marking period. Hopefully, everyone had an opportunity to meet with the staff at parent teacher conferences and were informed of all the social and academic achievements your children are involved in whether in-person, or remote.
I hope by now, all of our families have completed the District Survey in regards to being remote or in-person learning for the fourth marking period. If you have not completed the survey, please do so by Friday April 2 or your non response will default to Remote learning. The last survey request will be sent over Spring break so please look for it if you have not responded. Just a reminder that we return to school April 5 in a fully remote setting and will resume Hybrid learning April 19. School will be full day, five days a week with lunch being served. School Hours are 8:45 arrival,Homeroom 8:55 and dismissal will be 3:30 for Grades 1-5. Kindergarten hours are 9:00-11:30 for AM session and 1:00-3:30 for PM session. We have not determined at this time if Kindergarten will be in-person AM only and PM remote only. Thanks in advance for your patience.
April Celebrations - During the month of April, we will be celebrating Autism Awareness with School spirit day activities during the first week of April. Picture day make ups will be April 8 from 3-6 please sign up using the link on the sign up genius that was sent to you this week via your email. We also look forward to our Math Family Nights on April 15 and 22 and third marking period report cards will be posted to the portal April 30.
I also want to thank all of you for participating in our Pajama Jam. A special thanks to Mrs. Pickton and to all the staff who made the evening a night to remember even in the virtual environment. Also, a big thanks to our Author, Carmen Rubin who visited our K-3 students this month. What a wonderful experience for your children it was. This just continues to demonstrate, by working together, providing communication and the sharing of ideas, we can do anything. I am very proud of our entire community as we are, and will always forever be, “BEN FRANKLIN BOLTS” who continue to “LET OUR LIGHTNING SHINE”!
Please continue to stay Safe,Healthy and well. Make time to Smile,Laugh and Breathe!
Have a wonderful Spring Break and letś make the rest of this year, one to remember.

Book of the Month
"The Boy with Big, Big Feelings"
by: Britney Winn Lee
Meet a boy with feelings so big that they glow from his cheeks, spill out of his eyes, and jump up and down on his chest. When a loud truck drives by, he cries. When he hears a joke, he bursts with joy. When his loved ones are having a hard day, he feels their emotions as if they were his own. The boy tries to cope by stuffing down his feelings, but with a little help and artistic inspiration, the boy realizes his feelings are something to be celebrated. Written by debut picture book author Britney Winn Lee and boldly illustrated by Jacob Souva.
Additional Resources for Autism Awareness Month
We hope that these resources and materials will be helpful and beneficial to our entire school community.
Thank you once again to Ms. Lyna and Ms. Cherukara!
Assistant Principal's Corner
The month of March was a busy and eventful month for us and it has been wonderful to plan and host annual traditions, albeit in a different setting, but nevertheless we were able to still have our Read Across America week, Picture Days, Pajama Jam and we celebrated the International Social Emotional Learning Day together!
We look forward to upcoming fun events in April with our Family Math nights, Autism Awareness week, and so much more!
Mrs. Nieves
