Welcome to Spartan Nation, Mr. John Tindall!
"I am honored to be the new principal of Southwestern Jr.-Sr. High School. Growing up in the eastern portion of Shelby County, I attended and graduated from Waldron Jr.-Sr. High School in 2009. After high school, I attended Purdue University where I studied Social Studies Education. Recently, I completed a Masters program in Educational Leadership through Western Governors University.
Since graduating from Purdue University in 2013, I have been teaching 8th grade U.S. History at Greensburg Junior High School. In my time at Greensburg Jr. High, I have served in many leadership capacities including Social Studies Department Chair, member of the leadership team, coordinator for the annual 8th grade Washington D.C. Trip, and football and golf coach. I will forever be grateful for all the people I have met who have taught me so much about education and have been my support system every step of the way. I am excited for the next step in my journey at Southwestern Consolidated Schools.
In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors and spending quality time with my loved ones. Growing up in rural Shelby County, the outdoors is just a natural part of life. One of my favorite hobbies is the game of golf, and more times than not, when the weather is right, you can find me on a golf course.
My parents instilled in me community values that have led me to where I am today. My mom has always pushed my brother and I to participate in community service projects through 4-H, Junior Leaders, SCUFFY, and the Salvation Army. She has always led by example in giving back to the community. With my brother having just opened up the restaurant Munchies on the circle in Shelbyville, I think our parents’ unrelenting belief in community values has served us well. I am grateful and excited to be able to continue and expand my involvement in the Shelby County community by serving as principal of Southwestern Jr.-Sr. High School.
There have been great things happening at Southwestern Jr.-Sr. High School. I cannot wait to meet the staff and begin to build a positive rapport that will help us continue to make an effective educational impact on our students. I look forward to continuing to build a positive culture for our students, staff, and the Southwestern community as we move into the future. "

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a free book gifting program that mails high-quality books to children from birth until their 5th birthday regardless of their family’s income. “The single most significant factor influencing a child’s early educational success is an introduction to books and being read to at home prior to beginning school,” states the National Commission on Reading.
Financial Donations made through the Blue River Community Foundation have allowed this wonderful program to be offered in our community! Each month, registered children who live in Southwestern’s school district will receive an age appropriate book in the mail, addressed to them, at no cost to the family. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has partnered with the American Printing House for the Blind, Inc. to make many wonderful books in the program available in braille and audio format for children who are blind or visually impaired in order for all children to benefit from these wonderful books.
