Message From Principal Webb
Dear families,
It has been great seeing our Longhorn families on zoom for our parent-teacher conferences on Wednesday. Our next round of conferences is on Wednesday, March 10th. We will have NO SCHOOL for both onsite and online students that day.
Also on Wednesday, March 10th is Kindergarten Registration. Please call the office to schedule a time to register or sign up online.
The District Parent Organization is holding a meeting on March 10th at 6:30-8:00 PM and the topic is Support and Inclusion of LGBTQ Youth with speakers: Jordan Mix of Iowa Safe Schools & Laura Gray of the ICCSD Equity Team
The weather is getting nicer outside. I hope you have time to enjoy it. I will have more information on district/state surveys and ISASP testing in the next newsletter.
Finally, if you are an online student and still need to pick up materials for tri-3 please do so as soon as possible so you have the appropriate materials to support your learning.
I have added more pictures of our Self-Love Club door project below!
Most sincerely,
Kelli Webb

The Longfellow Artists have been busy online and in-person!
K- Longfellow Kindergarteners finished portraits of people they love inspired by the illustrator, Todd Parr. Maybe you received one as a gift.
Portrait by Nestor, Kindergarten
1-2 - Students finished a unit of study on architecture. We looked closely at some beautiful stupas in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal for inspiration for our drawings.
Architecture Study by Henrik, 2nd grade
3-4 - We learned about many fabulous traditions associated with the Lunar New Year: dragon dances, red envelopes, decorating with red for good luck, and lantern festivals! Students drew and painted whimsical dragons, a sign of good luck!
Dragons by third-grade students
5-6 - Students created self-portraits. We did a poetry activity to generate imagery that makes each student unique based on the poem “Where I am From.” This was also part of an interdisciplinary lesson with Music and the unit on the song “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” We looked at the work of Frank Big Bear for inspiration. Students learned about proportion, shading, and symbolism in work.
Self-portrait by Skylar, 5th grade
I am so proud of the work of all my students this year. Way to go, Longhorns!
