Willow Bend Eagles Update

A Note From Mr. Harris
In Person Learners
Beginning Wednesday, 1/20/21, In-Person learners will be allowed to concurrently learn by streaming into the classroom only if they need to quarantine for illness or exposure to COVID-19. When students flip flop between concurrent and in-person learning for reasons not related to COVID-19, it causes significant disruption within the classroom as well as the main office level where daily accountability for student attendance is a state requirement. For this reason, students who have requested in-person learning who choose to stay home for alternative reasons will not have access to concurrent instruction in 2021. Should your child be absent from in-person learning for a reason other than COVID-19 quarantine or exposure, as was the expectation prior to the pandemic, please contact your main office’s attendance line to report the absence. If your child is home due to quarantine for illness or exposure to COVID-19, please allow 24 hours for the teacher to set up for concurrent teaching.

Cold Weather/Recess Guidelines
Please take a moment and review the District 15 Cold Weather Recess Guidelines. This information was taken directly from our District 15 website: https://www.ccsd15.net/Page/67
Students generally go outside for recess every day, so they should be dressed appropriately. Exceptions are made only when a child brings a doctor's note excusing him/her from outdoor recess.
Staff members provide outdoor supervision at all times.
Indoor recess is determined based on the following guidelines:
- If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is below 0°F, all students will remain inside for the entire lunch hour.
- If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is between 0°-10°F, the preferred procedure is a rotation of 20 minutes for lunch, a 20-minute outdoor recess, and a 20-minute indoor recess. However, at the principal's discretion, students may be kept inside for the entire lunch hour.
- If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is above 10°F, students will have regular outdoor recess.
- Other considerations in which indoor recess is allowed include the condition of the playground and the presence of precipitation.
For indoor recess, students are supervised in their classrooms.
Please reach out to our front office if your family needs assistance with winter clothing.
Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures
- When dropping off in the morning, have your child ready to exit the vehicle. Have their mask on, Self-Certification Lanyard signed and visible, and have their backpacks and other items needed - ready to exit the vehicle.
- Pull up as far as you can. We should be able to exit 4-5 vehicles at a time.
- Please DO NOT cut in line.
Picking up Students:
- Stay in your car and in line
- Please have the children's name(s) on a piece of paper in the passenger window that you are picking up.
- Have patience - the line can go very quickly if we all help each other out.
