This semester our media center lessons will highlight online safety and digital citizenship, celebrating National Poetry Month, and accessing our eBook collection. Our first graders have been doing a great job using the Hamilton East Public Library databases so they can learn all about their animal research projects. I look forward to collaborating and helping the teachers with our Young Author books, technology, and project-based learning projects this spring!
Hour of Code
Did you know that in today's economy, computing jobs outnumber students graduating into the field by 3-to-1? FES students participated in the Hour of Code to try their hand at beginning computer programming. If your child enjoyed the activity, encourage them to keep practicing!
We have been having fun exploring a new technology called Augmented Reality, which makes books come "alive" by projecting a 3D image via our iPads.
Second grade went on a digital scavenger hunt to find pictures of nonfiction text features, such as the table of contents, captions, glossary, etc. Who knew indexes could be this fun?
