MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
83rd Edition: September 7, 2018
Pilgrims on the Way of Truth
It feels like we just started the school year - and yet, here we are approaching Mid-Terms this coming week (Friday, Sept. 14th!) September really becomes an avalanche of calendar events with clubs, teams, and rehearsals; but it's a crucial life-skill for our students to create time to dedicate to their studies. The effort is well worth it, as we hear time and time again from former students that Marian's rigorous curriculum has prepared them well for the demands of college and beyond. We are proud of our consistent test scores (highest in McHenry County for over 15 years!), passionate and talented faculty, and our outstanding student supports and services - but what's more is that we do all of this while facilitating meaningful encounters with Christ.
This is our promise to YOU.
We are Marian Central, and we are here for our students - every day.

Come TAILGATE with the HURRICANE NATION!
FIRST LATE START OF THE YEAR THIS TUESDAY!
Ironically, we have the MOST tardies to school on LATE START days! According to our Student Handbook, (p. 21) students are allowed only THREE excused tardies per school year. After the third excused tardy, any subsequent tardiness will result in a detention (which compounds with repetition.) It would be a waste of a tardy to be late on late start! We remind students to save those tardies for days where the weather is bad, or if there is excessive traffic.
Classes Celebrating Mass Together!
Our Junior class, especially, will have an additional celebration as Father Twenty will bless their class rings that were ordered at the end of Sophomore year! Those orders will be in and ready for pick-up after this special blessing!

SENIORS! Senior Photos Quickly Approaching!
Dear Marian Senior Parents:
The 2018-19 school year is underway and it is time to think about Senior Pictures! Each year, these pictures are taken for the senior composite, which is hung in the Commons area and printed in the yearbook. Copies of the photographs may be purchased from DeWane Studio in Woodstock if desired. If you know that you will have special circumstances that preclude your student from participating in pictures at the time or on the day assigned to them, please notify Mrs. DiSilvio at 815-388-4220, ext. 107 or email at ldisilvio@marian.com. Please remember that these photos are the traditional yearbook “portrait” that features each student’s head and upper torso, which is why we require ALL students to wear dress pants or uniform pants and appropriate shoes.
Senior Women:
...will be photographed on Wednesday, September 19th. Appropriate attire on this day includes dress pants or uniform pants and a blouse or sweater that covers the shoulders. Dresses/skirts are not allowed. No nose rings/studs, facial piercing, and no more than two earrings per ear will be permitted on girls. Since students are expected to follow a full day of course scheduling, appropriate and comfortable shoes are recommended. High heels are discouraged.
Senior Men:
...will be photographed on Thursday, September 20th. Suitable dress on this day includes a white shirt and tie, a sport coat or suit coat, and dress pants or uniform pants. No nose rings/studs, facial hair, facial piercing, and no earrings will be permitted on boys.
Hair for girls and boys must conform to Student Handbook guidelines.
Thank you for your cooperation and your support of the dress code listed above. Congratulations as we celebrate this exciting milestone!
