TGMS Weekly Updates
December 18, 2020
A message from Dr. Jackson
Toll Gate Middle School once again participated in projects that give back to the community. Money was raised through various activities in order to help Pickerington families during the holiday season.
Thank you for your support of our service projects. In the midst of what is always a very hectic season, pausing for just a moment to discuss a simple act of charity can add significant meaning to your family’s holiday, as well as throughout the rest of the year.
i-Ready letters for Parents
Dear Families,
As we continue to support your child’s learning process, we must continually assess what they have learned and areas for improvement. Beginning January 11th through January 29th, we will be administering the i-Ready Diagnostic test for Reading and Math. The test is similar to the test your child took at the beginning of the year. It is not for grading purposes but rather identifies your child’s growth from the beginning of the year until now.
Why is I-Ready Important?
i-Ready instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill level, so your child can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons offer explicit, yet challenging instruction at each student’s level of ability by providing systematic practice and feedback.
In preparation for the second diagnostic test, please partner with us to create a successful learning experience for your child.
Talk to your child about i-Ready and have them log in and show you their progress. Have your child explain the lessons they have completed and what they have learned through the program.
Remind your child about the test dates and encourage them to try their best on the test.
Make a plan for testing days being sure to get a good night’s rest and that they eat breakfast.
For i-Ready:
Please take time to watch this short video on how to monitor your student's progress on his/her lessons so far this school year. Visit i-Ready’s Family Center for more information about the program and how to support your child.
Please contact your child's ELA or Math teacher with further questions on how you can best support his or her progress!
With your help, we will provide our students with a supportive learning environment giving our students the best opportunity to learn and grow.
Please see the attached file for futher detail.
