Message from Administration

Parents,

"Paws" for Story Time is happening tomorrow morning, so we are calling all of our 3 to 5 year olds in the community to come visit with us in the library! This is our first annual Pre-K Story time. We look forward to making a memorable experience for these little ones. Want you join us? I hear Tusky is coming!

We celebrated a few great happenings this week. See below for pictures!

Enjoy your Fiesta Week! Don't forget we have a three day weekend coming up.

Sincerely,

Tara Bailey

Jump Rope For Heart

Friday, April 20th kicked-off the Jump Rope for Heart Challenge. The students met members of the “Scare Squad.” Students learned about making healthy choices and how important it is to have a healthy heart. We encourage everyone to sign up online and download the app on any smart phone or tablet. The app is called Jump/Hoops. Donations can be made starting today and the fundraiser will end on May 11th. Cash donations will be accepted, but online donations are recommended. We raised close to $10,000 last year and our goal for this year is $11,000. If the goal is met, Coach Kaufman, as well as Coach Fonger will be pied in the face. We will try and hand out prizes daily during P.E. based on the fundraiser notifications we get on our end through the app. - THE Coaches

4th Grade Wax Museum

See the video link above of all of our hard working students. Thank you Mrs. Morris for making this possible for our 4th grade students. The students did a wonderful job displaying their historical person.

Volunteer Appreciation Lunch

We were thrilled to celebrate all of our volunteers that came out on Tuesday, April 17th. We had the Madison Mariachi Band, THE Choir, and Irish Dancers entertain all of our volunteers while we treated them to a Nacho Bar. Thank you to all of our volunteers! You truly are the definition of KINDNESS. You give countless hours of your time to our campus, staff, students, and other families. We appreciate you! #TuscanyHeroes

Two of our student leaders, Julia and Joshua, were given the honor of leading the celebration oath. You can see the video on NEISD's Webpage. We are proud of all of our students that were leaders and participated in this annual event for our district.

Staff meets 5th grade STEAM Students

At this week's faculty meeting, our staff members had the pleasure of experimenting with some 5th grade students that have been coding and engineering recently. We will share more pictures on our Facebook page! Here are three pictures of our staff members participating in rotations with the students and a Big Bad Wolf Lesson led by administrations The staff members were required to construct a house for their pig that could not be blown over by the Big Bad Wolf, blowdryer. We had fun exploring STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). More and more to come on this topic! Tuscany Heights will be piloting these lessons in 4th & 5th grade classes for the 2018-19 school year. We are also considering a STEAM Lab for our specials rotation. More to come on this topic. I would love your feedback! tbaile5@neisd.org

2018 THE Teacher Appreciation Week April 30th – May 4th

The Tuscany Heights Elementary PTA is asking all of our students and families to help us show STAR teachers and staff how much we appreciate them during the week of April 30th! Visit the T.H.E. PTA website at www.tuscanyheightspta.org for some fun ways that our students, no matter what grade, can participate in this fun week for our amazing teachers! Backpack flyers will be coming home soon. Also, be sure to check out the faculty “favorites” pages available at http://www.tuscanyheightspta.org/faculty-favorites.html

Warmer weather = Overflowing Lost and Found

Parents, as the weather warms up we find lots of sweaters and jackets around the school with no name on them – they end up in lost and found and it is OVERflowing! Help us out by checking closets and then sending your students on a mission to find what is lost and bring it home! ALL items will be donated to a charity at the end of the semester.

Want to get involved? With the election of our new PTA officers, we are filling PTA board chair positions for 2018-19. If you would like more information or have any questions about any of the volunteer opportunities please don’t hesitate to ask. Kelly Evans, our incoming president or I would be happy to visit with you.
