Students AUP, Email, and Password Report
Do you have a new student and need their email and 4x4 (password)?
If you've taken a look at Cognos lately they did update their screens, so you might have lost your way. The same reports are there, just a little different in getting to them. Here is a click sheet so you can retrieve this report that you need so often. Use that search icon, to help retrieve any old reports you use, it's very helpful.Data Verification-Registering for the 2021-2022 School Year
Student Data Verification will begin on Monday March 15, 2021 for all students in grades EE/PK through 11th grade for the 2021-2022 school year. All guardians will receive an email from the system on March 15th announcing the process has begun and ask them to complete the process through their HAC accounts.
If parents need assistance with their HAC account, they can fill out this Google Form for HAC Assistance:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSekcDWcg7A2sUMXdUpJ0bFpdjpo9G27o02S5IdWx2rdf44IzA/viewform
Sylvia can reset passwords if parents call her and make this request with her.
Remind parents/guardians students will not be assigned a teacher for 21-22 until process is complete, and students could be sent to cap/cluster campuses if available spots fill before completion.
Parents/Guardians need to look for an email from SIS_Support@nisd.net with their information to set up their account (may need to check spam/junk mail)
All adults listed as Guardians have access to have a HAC account and can complete the registration process. If parents need access to a computer to complete this process, please let admin and/or front office know so we can schedule a time for them to come to the school to complete the process.
o If guardians receive a message stating that the form was already submitted - another guardian has already submitted the form
o In Divorce situations – if one guardian has completed the form and the other wishes to ensure their information is correct, attendance secretaries can assist with printing what was submitted and confirming phone numbers and address, for the 2nd guardian
o Make sure to follow all legal paperwork on file in regard to sharing information
All Data Verification is done through HAC and please make sure parents are not told to complete a new registration on their students.
Update to Campus Grading Policy-Science and Social Studies Grades
The Guiding Coalition decided that the minimum number of grades to be taken in Science and Social Studies in grades 1-4 during a grading cycle is five (5). 5th grade will continue to collect a minimum of 7-9 grades in Science and Social Studies per grading cycle.
Teams will determine what is graded as a PLC. Our campus grading policy does allow students to redo assignments after a reteach to determine mastery of skills/TEKS. The redo grade is added to the gradebook if the grade is higher than the original grade.
Google Hangouts (from the district)
Students should be reminded that Technology Services has the ability to identify and review inappropriate student communication in the Google suite. Therefore, it is imperative that students understand the importance of maintaining appropriate digital citizenship while utilizing the Hangouts chat feature.
Zoom Security Update (from the district)
As we continue to use and learn more about Zoom, the District will be making a few edits to ensure your classrooms are as safe as possible. Here are a few changes that will be made to provide a more secure environment.
- Authentication will be turned on.
Northside has over 30,000 student accounts created. With some of the confusion of creating an account and troubleshooting, authentication was not turned on to allow for students having trouble creating accounts to still attend Zoom sessions. Authentication will be enabled meaning that if teachers leave “Require authentication to join” only students signed into Zoom with their @student.nisd.net email will be allowed to join the meeting. Teachers have the ability to disable that option when creating future meetings.
Name changes can not be honored.
To ensure that teachers are able to let the correct students in the room, the ability to edit a name in the Zoom profile will be disabled. Many students changed their names before we were able to turn this feature off. On Friday, February 24th, we will be linking Zoom to the directory to “fix” any accounts with a name change.
This will impact teacher accounts as well. Names that have been changed will revert to your name listed in our Active Directory. We will not be able to edit names in the Zoom console going forward for students or staff.
Schoology Tip of the Week
When using an iPad it's important to know the different capabilities of the Chrome browser and the Schoology iOS App. Click the following links to review iPad capabilities for the Schoology iOS app and the Chrome browser.
