COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
HOLLABAUGH BROS., INC.
Hollabaugh’s is another local business that hires students from BHS. We interviewed Mrs. Kay Hollabaugh about her personal experiences with her teen workers. Mrs. Hollabaugh married into the business and worked for five years away from the business. Once she had children, she decided to join the business. She said she loves agriculture and she loves passing that passion down onto their young workers. She teaches kids and teens that food doesn’t magically appear on the grocery store shelves. Mrs. Hollabaugh made a point to say how she teaches her teen workers what a good product is like, and they carry that knowledge with them wherever they go.
A usual situation at Hollabaugh’s includes five to twelve teen workers. They are very flexible with the schedules of work, prioritizing family, academics, church, and then work last. She said that if you have the right student employee, you have a high-energy kid with new fresh ideas. She feels that the company is well run and has a welcoming atmosphere because of their teen workers. Mrs. Hollabaugh emphasized that when a student leaves their company that they are prepared to work hard, be honest, be respectful, and be responsible no matter what career path they choose. Thank you for hiring our students and supporting our school.
