Students of the Week

STUDENT: Michael Mirville

Michael is a student in one of my English classes, and I have a lot to thank him for! We are preparing for StoryCorps' The Great Thanksgiving Listen, and my students recorded test recordings so they can become acquainted with the app prior to their interview over Thanksgiving weekend. This is my fifth year assigning this, and this year the app has not allowed my students to publish their recordings. I have been at my wits end, and Michael provided a workable solution. This morning he explained to me how he was able to upload and archive his interview using an alternate method. I copied his process and have used it with my classes so we may proceed with this project. He really saved the day and this project!

STUDENT: Kylie Hafner

Kylie is an overall awesome student who always goes out of her way to help out anyone in need. Today she was in the bathroom and found my bathroom pass that a student had left in there and made the trek out of her way to return the pass.

Career Education for MSA Students

Michelle D’Arcangelo, helicopter flight nurse with a great deal of experience and nursing licenses, spoke with the Medical Science Academy students today. She discussed her background, what a career in nursing looks like, and what great opportunities exist in the nursing industry of medical care! Thanks for sharing such insights! #EHTPride!!
Dr. Kim Mejia, a BSN graduate of Rutgers University, with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, Advanced Practice Nurse licensure and a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, went over her schooling, background and current career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in today’s presentation with MSA students. We greatly enjoyed her excellent PowerPoint presentation that was very much appropriate for our senior students. We were amazed by all of the different specializations and licenses available in nursing today. We even were enlightened a bit about the history of nursing and the great Florence Nightingale! Thank you! #EHTPride!

MSA Seniors Gain Important Insights From Speaker

Mr. Rick Williams spoke with senior MSA students today. As a paraplegic, Mr. Williams gave great insight and perspectives regarding such a life changing disability. In 1981, Mr. Williams was in a car accident when he was not wearing a seat belt. As a result, he was thrown from the car and suffered a broken spinal cord causing him to lose any use and sensation below his waist. His true grit and determination post-injury allowed him to continue teaching gym classes to pre-K to 5th grade! He retired after 39 years and still remains active and independent. However, health struggles have been a major part of his current daily life! Thank you for giving your perspective to the lives of our students. I hope it makes them appreciate the things they take for granted and makes them think twice about making choices that could alter or end precious life! #EHTPride!
