Academic Word of the Week - CLAIM
I appreciate those of you who are using the AWOW in your daily lessons. I appreciate the emails and twitter usage. It's wonderful! Please keep it up.
We will continue to print the word and place it in your mailbox each Friday. Please be sure to post it in your room and use it with students.
We will be tweeting the winners and putting them on the front page of the website too.
Please post the word of the week green paper in your classroom.
Here are week 7 winners: Anthony Montoya, Vinnet Villegas, Preston Zillot.
Please take a minute to recognize these students if you have them in your class.
Information and Updates
Thank you! Thank you to the Ministry of Merriment, Mr. Webb and the culinary staff for a fun BBQ last Thursday. It was fun to get together, break bread and then watch some football!
Rivalry Week is upon us! The dress up days are fun and very workable. Please participate. I would love to take another staff photo (with a real camera) on Wednesday (Team / squad day). We'll send it over to PD and let the valley know that our CLAIM is that we are Being Bold and re-defining excellence! If you wear your shirt, please meet in the quad directly after school for a quick photo.
Ford Next Generation Learning: this is a conference held in the valley Wed - Fri. It is an off-shoot of the Nashville conference many of us who work with the CTE programs attend. We will be hosting educators from all over the country from 8 -11 on Friday. Mostly they will be viewing our CTE programs and possibly some core CTE classrooms. We will be holding a panel discussion also which will involve a few students, staff and community partners.
Block Day Breaks and Instructional Time: As I walk around campus I see many students out of class, especially on block days. Please do not give whole group breaks on block days. Instructional time is limited and extremely valuable. If you need assistance with how to organize your instruction on block days please let me know.
Digital Citizenship Day is shaping up. Mr. Magnera and Mr. Duke have made some adjustments to the plan. Please keep an eye out for a schedule early this week.
October Upcoming Events:
Great Shakeout Oct 20th at 10:20.
Digital Citizenship Day Oct 31st - Stu will learn about digital citizenship throughout the day in their classes. Teachers will have lessons for each period of the day. This will take the entire school day.
