Dear Slate Hill families,

Just a reminder that we will begin our OST testing in grades 3-5th for ELA, Math and Science (only in 5th grade). It is super important for your child to be on time, get plenty of sleep, eat a good breakfast and at school on our testing dates.

- Math for 3rd-5th- April 18th and 19th

A few announcements for the 2023-24 school year:
First of all, we want to celebrate Ms. Melissa Webber, one of our RockSTAR full day Kindergarten teachers who will be retiring at the end of this school year. We are so thankful for her and all that she does for our students, families and staff. We will miss her!
Mrs. Brittany Bryan will be moving from 1st grade to full day kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year. Brittany previously taught kindergarten, and we are excited to have her as part of the Kindergarten RockSTAR team for next year. Also, we want to welcome, Miss Madison Harrington, who will be joining our first grade RockSTAR team for the 2023-24 school year.

Counselor's Corner
Does your student think life just happens to them, or that they are the victim in every circumstance? A great way to challenge your students' mentality is by teaching them personal accountability. Below are a few quick ways that you can show or teach your student personal accountability.

2023 Finley's Smile 5K & Smile Mile!
The 2023 Finley's Smile 5K & Smile Mile is coming! Join us on Sunday, April 23rd to support our organization, Finley's Smile. Register at: https://racepenguin.com/events/finleysmile5k/
Finley's Smile is a nonprofit that was created by Kristin and Tyler Hollinger after their daughter, Finley Grace passed away in 2016. The Finley's Smile 5K & Smile Mile is the primary fundraiser for the organization. The goal of Finley's Smile is to provide fun, authentic and meaningful experiences for children, while encouraging families to spend time together. Some of the projects funded by Finley's Smile include the Games in Schools program at Slate Hill Elementary (as well as other Worthington Schools). This program provides students with the opportunity to check out board games from the school library to enjoy with their families. Finley's Smile has also provided over $40,000 through our Love, Play, Smile grant. This grant goes to support other nonprofit organizations who share their vision to provide children and their families/caregivers with fun, background building experiences! For more information about Finley's Smile visit their Facebook Group Finley's Smile or website, http://www.finleyssmile.org/
