Welcome Back
We will continue learning about upper and lowercase letters, numbers, rhyming words, and many other exciting things as we are now entering into the second half of the year and getting closer to getting ready for Kindergarten. This time of year is always exciting because we see them grow so much and catch on to concepts that gives them the foundation they need to start kindergarten.

Ready Rosie: Domino Match Up
Domino Match Up
Learning Outcomes: Counting and Cardinality, Self-Management
Number race! Place dominoes face up on the table. Draw a number card from a deck of cards. First to match a number to a domino, wins!
Why It's Important
Children need to recognize multiple representations of the same number. Subitizing means that your child has the ability to 'see' a small amount of objects and know how many there are without counting. As a general rule, children can subitize an amount up to their age. For example, a three-year can typically subitize up to three items.
Not Ready Yet
Before playing the game, review each domino dot pattern with the child. Only include dominoes that have the numbers zero through four represented on them. As a general rule, children can subitize (or give the total without counting) up to their age. So if playing the game with a four year old, only use dominoes zero through four.
Need a Challenge
Use a full set of dominoes with your child. Before playing, review each dot pattern with the child, as the numbers seven through twelve aren’t as easily recognized.
Make sure to let your child count the number of dots on their own. Help them ONLY when they need help or struggle.
