Your Weekly Update on Hewitt-Trussville Athletics 3/1/2022
Girls Golf Wins Helena Open
Hewitt-Trussville Girls Golf finished in 1st place last Tuesday at the Helena Girls Open. The event was held at Oak Mountain State Park. The Huskies finished 18 shots ahead of second-place Homewood. HT had a team total of 225.
The Huskies were led on Tuesday by Freshman Molly Davidson who fired a round of 67. Davidson was the low medalist by seven shots. Senior Gracie Davidson shot a round of 77 and finished in 4th place overall individually. Aubrey Payne was the third counting score for the team as she shot a round of 81.
The team will be in action again March 7-8 as they travel to Hoover Country Club for the March Madness event.

Hewitt-Trussville Baseball went 3-0 over the last week and the Huskies now have a 6-0 overall record on the season.
On Monday night, Coach Jeff Mauldin's team defeated Northridge 5-2. Eayn Thomas was the winning pitcher as he threw six innings and did not give up a run. Carson Wideman had two hits and two RBI's. Jack Ollis and Matt Miller had two hits each and Kurt Kizer drove in two runs.
On Friday, HT defeated Helena 3-0. Baker Green was the winning pitcher as he tossed a complete game and struck out 13 batters. Matt Miller hit a home run and Ethan Duhon had a RBI.
Last Tuesday the Huskies beat Pelham 6-3. Riley Quick pitched a complete game and struck out 10 batters. Ethan Duhon, Baker Green, Kurt Kizer, and Carson Wideman all had hits.

Softball Wins Home Opener
Hewitt-Trussville Softball beat Mortimer Jordan 15-0 on Thursday in the first home game of the season. It was also "Taylor Burt Day" in the city of Trussville as she was honored for recently being named National Coach of the Year.
Sara Phillips picked up the win in the circle as she allowed just three hits and struck out seven batters. Riley Tyree was 4-4 at the plate and drove in five runs. Hannah Dorsett was 2-4 and scored four times.
The Huskies have a busy week ahead that starts with a Tuesday trip to Thompson. On Thursday, the Huskies will host Central Phenix-City. This weekend, the Huskies will host the Hewitt Invitational.

Tennis Picks Up Section Wins
HT Girls Tennis is now 5-1 overall on the season and 2-0 in 7A Section 3 play. HT defeated Oak Mountain last week. The Huskies dominated singles play winning five of the six matches. Yasmin Fisher won 8-2 in the #2 singles match. AnnaBeth Hill (#3 singles) and Anna Blake (#4 singles) also won their matches 8-2. Talia Talley won a tight match 9-7 at #5 singles. Riley Edwards won 8-6 at #6 singles.
The Huskies swept doubles play as Isabella Hall and AnnaBeth Hill won 8-4 in #1 doubles. Yasmin Fisher and Anna Blake won 8-1 in #2 doubles, and Talia Talley and Sarah Kate Smith win 8-3 in #3 doubles.
The HT Boys improved to 5-2 on the season and 2-0 in 7A Section 3 play with a 8-1 win over Oak Mountain Monday. The Huskies will be in action again on Tuesday against Mortimer Jordan.

Boys Outdoor Track & Field Wins Opening Event
HT Outdoor Track & Field opened the Outdoor season last week at the Battle Royale in Mountain Brook. The HT Boys finished in 1st place and the HT Girls finished in 3rd place.

Girls Soccer Extends Win Streak to Five

Hewitt-Trussville Girls Soccer improved to 8-2 on the season with a pair of wins last week. On Thursday, the Huskies beat Clay-Chalkville 11-0. Jocelyn Davis recorded a hat trick as she scored three of the first four HT goals.
On Friday, the Huskies picked up a 4-2 road win at Southside-Gadsden. Mariela Delfin scored the first goal of the game. Libby Armstrong then assisted Jocelyn Davis for the second HT goal. Taylor Doss then made the score 3-0 as she added a goal. After Southside cut the lead to 3-2, Delfin scored again off an assist from Jocelyn Davis.
The Huskies will be at home on Tuesday night for a matchup with Thompson. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm.

Boys Soccer Blanks Clay-Chalkville
HT Boys Soccer defeated Clay-Chalkville 10-0 on Wednesday night. Parker Green led the scoring as he netted four goals.
The Huskies are preparing for a pair of 7A contests this week. On Tuesday, Coach Daniel Decker's squad will travel to Thompson. On Friday, HT will be back at home to host Hoover.

MS Baseball Wins Perfect Game Event
HTMS Baseball won the Perfect Game Middle School Showdown in Hoover over the weekend.
HT 4 Rainbow City 4
Taylor Alfano recorded two hits and scored twice. Rylan Barlok and Gavin Beaver also had two hits each.
HT 4 Lott 2
Lane Bilodeau had two hits, one RBI, and scored once. Jake Echols was the winning pitcher as he struck out eight batters. Aidan Julbert got the save.
HT 4 Auburn 0 (Semifinal)
Gavin Beaver threw a no-hitter and struck out eight Auburn batters. Lane Bilodeau had two hits and drove in a pair of runs.
HT 13 Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 6 (Championship)
Lane Bilodeau had an inside the park grand slam for the Huskies. He also scored three times. Jonah Turner was the winning pitcher. Taylor Alfano, Cale McIntosh, Joshua Moore, Brady Ryan, and Andrew Walker all had two hits.

HTMS Softball made it to the championship game this weekend in Tuscaloosa.
HT 4 Pell City 2
Rachel Reed picked up the win as she pitched three innings and did not allow an earned run. Hannah Claire Miller had a hit and drove in two runs.
Brookwood 7 HT 6
Emily Renda had two hits and drove in two Runs. Hannah Claire Miller had two hits, one RBI, and one run scored.
HT 8 Duncanville 0
Mia Ji was the winning pitcher as she pitched a complete game and allowed just one hit. Presley Hull scored twice. Emily Renda had a hit and scored twice.
HT 10 Brookwood 9 (Semifinal)
Presley Hull was 3-3 and scored three times. Kylie Hendrick had two hits and a RBI.
Curry 11 HT 4 (Championship)
Presley Hull was 1-2 and scored a run.
MS Tennis Sweeps Berry
The HTMS Boys' and Girls' Tennis teams had wins over Berry last week. The HT Girls by the score of 7-2. Kate Armstrong, Ivy Tidwell, Lyla Hatley, and Bailey Moates all won in singles matches. Kate Armstrong/Ivy Tidwell won 8-5 in #1 doubles. Riley Austin/Eden Christian won 8-5 in #2 doubles. Avery Hatley and Allie Maronge won 8-5 in #3 doubles.
The HT Boys beat Berry 6-3. Carter Jordan, Parker Lybrand, and Kyle Jones won in singles play. Carter Jordan/Kyle Jones won 8-2 in #1 doubles. Parker Lybrand/Paul Bethune won 8-6 in #2 doubles. Levi Buckner/Luke Stutsman won 8-1 in #3 singles.
